Heroin Worth ₹10.23 Lakh Destroyed by Lunglei District Disposal Committee

Lunglei, Oct 2025 : This evening, the Lunglei District Disposal Committee (DCC) carried out the destruction of seized contraband heroin (No. 4) weighing 367.18 grams, valued at approximately ₹10,23,360, at the Lunglei AP Tlanga Incinerator Centre.

The disposal process was led by Pu J. Lalmuankima, Superintendent of Police, Lunglei District, who is also the Chairman of the DCC. The incineration was conducted in the presence of committee members, including the Sub-Divisional Officer (Sadar), Assistant Commissioner, Excise & Narcotics, and the Sub-Divisional Police Officer.

The destroyed heroin had been seized in connection with two cases — Lunglei PS Case No. 124/2025 dated 01.08.2025 under Sections 21(b)/29 of the NDPS Act, and Lunglei PS Case No. 125/2025 dated 01.08.2025 under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act.

The contraband was destroyed as per the orders of the Judicial Magistrate First Class-I, Lunglei, allowing for pre-trial disposal in accordance with the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
