Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Inaugurates ₹30 Crore Development Projects in Laxmi Nagar Assembly

Inaugurates New Chhath Ghat, Environmental Protection is Our Priority: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta

New Delhi, Oct 2025 : Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today inaugurated several development projects in the Laxmi Nagar Assembly constituency, completed at an estimated cost of ₹30 crore. During the event, she also unveiled a newly constructed Chhath Ghat, dedicating it to the public. The Chief Minister highlighted that the new ghat not only reflects the faith of the Purvanchal community but also stands as a symbol of Delhi’s cultural unity and religious harmony. She further acknowledged the Purvanchal community as the backbone of the city, praising their continuous contributions to Delhi’s growth through hard work, service, and dedication.

The event was attended by Laxmi Nagar MLA Abhay Verma, municipal councillors, local representatives, party workers, and a large gathering of citizens. The Chief Minister remarked that these projects mark a significant step towards strengthening basic infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for residents. She added that the Delhi Government remains fully committed to the capital’s overall development, assuring that adequate funds will be available for all projects proposed by MLAs and municipal councillors.

Highlighting the government’s focus on environmental protection, the Chief Minister noted that concrete measures, supported by public participation, are being taken to make Delhi pollution-free. She appealed to the Dhobi community to replace traditional coal presses with electric ones to reduce pollution and urged security personnel who rely on wood fires during winter to adopt electric heaters. She emphasised that the government will actively support such initiatives to ensure a cleaner, greener Delhi. When the Purvanchal community addressed her as the ‘Daughter of Purvanchal,’ the Chief Minister said she considered it both an honour and a responsibility.

Details of the New Development Projects

The projects inaugurated by the Chief Minister include various development works completed at a total cost of approximately ₹30 crore. These include 153 lanes and roads constructed at a cost of ₹16 crore, 75 sewer and water lines laid at a cost of ₹12.36 crore, and the construction of a culvert at Ganesh Nagar Complex at a cost of ₹1.30 crore. Additionally, survey work from S Block, Pandav Nagar to Akshardham Main Road, a survey for the beautification of Shahdara Link Drain, and the inauguration of the newly constructed Chhath Ghat were also undertaken.
