Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Summoned to Delhi as Congress High Command Reviews Party Affairs and Internal Discord

Hyderabad, Oct 2025 :Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is traveling to New Delhi today to meet with the Congress high command amid growing political unease within the state government and pending organizational decisions. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka departed for the capital on Friday evening, while Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud is expected to join them today.

According to party sources, the high command has summoned the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and TPCC President to discuss long-pending appointments to the District Congress Committee (DCC) president posts. AICC in-charge for Telangana Meenakshi Natarajan and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy are also expected to participate in the meeting. A senior leader at Gandhi Bhavan confirmed that AICC examiners had already met district-level leaders to collect their inputs and recommendations, which will now be reviewed by the top leadership in Delhi.

However, the meeting is not limited to organizational matters. It comes at a time when tensions within the Telangana cabinet have begun to draw concern from the party high command. Several ministers are reportedly at odds over administrative and financial issues, particularly regarding the allocation of government tenders. Forest Minister Konda Surekha’s recent objection to Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s involvement in the Medaram Jatara tender process created a rift within the cabinet. Matters escalated further after a police raid at Ponguleti’s residence on Wednesday to detain former OSD N. Sumanth — an incident that caught the attention of the Congress leadership in Delhi.

Adding to the turmoil, senior IAS officer SAM Rizvi’s application for voluntary retirement sparked another controversy. Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao wrote to Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao recommending rejection of the application, leading to further political unease in the state administration.

Political observers believe that the Delhi meeting will serve as a platform for the Congress high command to assess these internal challenges and reinforce unity within the government. “The high command is expected to address both organizational issues and cabinet-level disputes,” said a senior party insider. “Ensuring smooth governance and maintaining discipline among ministers will be a top priority.”

The meeting is also expected to focus on finalizing key district-level appointments and shaping the Congress’s broader strategy for the upcoming elections. The visit of CM Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Vikramarka, and TPCC President Goud to New Delhi is seen as a crucial move by the party leadership to stabilize the Telangana unit and reaffirm control ahead of critical political developments.
