Rahul Gandhi Accuses PM Modi and Election Commission of “Vote Theft” at Kishanganj Rally
Patna, Nov 2025 : Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Sunday launched a fierce attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Election Commission of India (ECI), accusing them of orchestrating what he called “vote theft” across multiple states. Speaking at a massive Mahagathbandhan rally in Kishanganj, Bihar, the Congress leader claimed that votes were stolen in Maharashtra, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh—and alleged that similar attempts were underway in Bihar ahead of the assembly elections.
Rahul Gandhi asked why the BJP and the Election Commission had not responded to his allegations if they were baseless. “Why are these people silent? Our allegations were correct—that is why they are quiet. They are indeed vote thieves,” he told the crowd. He reiterated his claim that several BJP leaders were registered as voters in two states and accused Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of manipulating elections to remain in power.
The Leader of the Opposition further alleged that despite directly accusing the Prime Minister and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar of vote theft, neither of them offered any clarification. “Narendra Modi did not refute my allegation even once. He never said Rahul Gandhi is lying. The allegations we made are absolutely correct—hence the silence,” he said.
Continuing his attack, Rahul Gandhi remarked, “A thief steals, lives in fear, and eventually gets caught. Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar have committed vote theft in India, and they are afraid of the people. One day they will surely be caught.”
The Congress leader also accused Prime Minister Modi of spreading hatred across the country. “Hatred is in Narendra Modi’s blood and thinking. He wants to divide people. But there is love in my blood—that is the difference between us,” he said, stressing that the INDIA bloc stood for unity and harmony.
Rahul Gandhi also focused on the unemployment crisis in Bihar, saying that the state’s youth were being forced to migrate due to the lack of local opportunities. “Wherever I travel in India, I see young people from Bihar. You have built places like Dubai and Bengaluru with your hard work. If you can build Dubai, why can’t Bihar be transformed the same way?” he asked.
Invoking Bihar’s historic pride, he reminded the audience that Nalanda University was once a global centre of learning, drawing students from Korea, Japan, and even Britain. “But today, Bihar is being associated with paper leaks. In nearly every exam, papers are leaked through unfair means,” he alleged, adding that systematic failures were destroying the dreams of Bihar’s youth.
The first phase of Bihar’s assembly elections—covering 121 constituencies—was completed peacefully on November 6. The second phase of voting is scheduled for November 11, spanning 20 districts and 122 constituencies, including West Champaran, East Champaran, Kishanganj, Araria, Katihar, Purnea, Supaul, Madhubani, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Jamui, Banka, Bhagalpur, Nawada, Jehanabad, Arwal, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Gaya, and Kaimur. The final results will be declared on November 14, which will determine who forms the next government in Bihar.
From the Kishanganj stage, Rahul Gandhi appealed to voters to support Mahagathbandhan candidates, including Congress candidates Masawwar Alam (Bahadurganj) and Kamrul Hoda (Kishanganj), as well as RJD candidates Saud Alam (Thakurganj) and Mujahid Alam (Kochadhaman). He claimed that the mood in Bihar had shifted decisively in favour of change and urged people to ensure the victory of all Grand Alliance candidates.
With electoral temperatures rising, the Congress leader’s allegations have added a new layer of confrontation to an already heated political contest as Bihar heads into the crucial second phase of polling.
