Bihar Assembly Elections Phase 2: Voting Begins Across 122 Seats Amid Heavy Security

Patna, Nov 2025 : The final phase of the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 began on Tuesday, with voting commencing at 7 a.m. across 122 constituencies spread over 20 districts of the state. Polling is currently underway in Gaya, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Arwal, Jehanabad, Nawada, Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Supaul, Purnea, Araria, Katihar, Kishanganj, East Champaran, and West Champaran.

To ensure smooth and transparent polling, the Election Commission has set up a state-of-the-art control and command centre at the Chief Electoral Officer’s office in Patna, enabling real-time monitoring of the entire election process. Similar command rooms have been established in all 20 district headquarters. In a notable initiative, 595 polling stations are being operated entirely by women officials, while 221 booths are staffed exclusively by specially-abled personnel. Additionally, 316 model polling stations have been created to provide a more accessible voting experience.

The first phase of polling, held on November 6, recorded an impressive voter turnout of nearly 65 percent. With almost 3.7 crore eligible voters in this second phase, political parties view today’s polling as decisive in determining the state’s next government.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the people of Bihar to come out and vote in large numbers, particularly appealing to first-time voters. “My request to all voters is that they participate actively and create a new record for voting. I have a special appeal to the young companions of the state who are voting for the first time — they should not only cast their vote themselves but also inspire others to do so,” PM Modi posted on X.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also encouraged maximum voter participation, stressing that voting is both a right and a responsibility. “Today, voting for the second phase of the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections is taking place. All voters are urged to exercise their voting rights without fail. Vote and inspire others to do so as well. Vote first, then refreshments!” he wrote on X.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary echoed similar sentiments while highlighting the significance of this electoral moment. “Your one vote will not only determine the future of Bihar, but will also set the direction for good governance, development, and stability. Let us come forward to build a corruption-free, crime-free, self-reliant Bihar. Make the NDA victorious again with your invaluable vote. Jai Bihar!” he urged.

A total of 45,399 polling stations have been set up across the 20 districts, with heightened security arrangements at sensitive booths. Election officials have deployed additional forces, quick response teams, and continuous aerial surveillance to ensure peaceful and fair polling.

The fate of candidates in all 122 constituencies will be sealed in EVMs today. Counting of votes for all 243 seats in the Bihar Assembly will take place on November 14, when the final results will determine the formation of the next state government.
