Rajasthan’s Road Safety Drive: Over 2.88 Lakh People Made Aware, 31,000 Speeding Violators Penalised

Jaipur, Nov 2025 : In line with the vision of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the state government is conducting a 15-day Road Safety Campaign across Rajasthan from 4 to 18 November to prevent road accidents and strengthen road safety measures. During the campaign, various departments are continuously carrying out effective actions to improve road infrastructure, raise awareness among vehicle drivers, and strictly enforce traffic rules.


Police Department: Action Against Violators

Strict action is being taken across the state against those who violate traffic rules. Under the Road Safety Campaign, from 4 to 10 November, the Police Department registered the following actions:

  • 4,979 cases for driving under the influence of alcohol
  • 31,613 cases for speeding
  • 22,773 cases for wrong-side driving
  • 2,129 cases for dangerous driving
  • 6,549 cases for driving without reflectors
  • 12,453 cases for driving without number plates

During this period, 2,88,906 citizens were made aware of traffic rules and safe driving practices.

On various state highways, police spread awareness about implementing lane-driving systems in line with the NH-48 model. Police teams were deployed to ensure lane discipline and take action against violators.


Transport Department: 12,400+ Challans, 308 Driving Licences Cancelled

Under the Road Safety Campaign, the Transport and Road Safety Department has issued 12,453 challans (as of 10 November) for violations across the state. This includes:

  • 805 challans for overloading in goods vehicles
  • 293 challans for carrying passengers illegally in goods vehicles
  • 8,245 challans for other violations by goods vehicles

In passenger vehicles:

  • 145 challans for overloading of passengers
  • 26 challans for buses carrying luggage on rooftops
  • 1,533 challans for other violations

The Transport Department has cancelled 308 driving licences, revoked 65 vehicle registrations, seized 608 vehicles, and cancelled 33 permits. Further challans have been issued for additional offences.


Medical & Health Department: Eye Check-ups for Drivers

Under the ongoing campaign, on 11 November, the Medical and Health Department conducted eye screenings for 1,334 commercial vehicle drivers (truck and bus drivers) operating on national and state highways, distributing 196 spectacles to those in need.

So far, the department has screened 8,006 drivers and distributed 1,263 spectacles.


Coordinated Efforts Across Departments

Various departments and district administrations across Rajasthan are actively contributing to the campaign:

  • Public Works Department (PWD):
    Clearing roadside vegetation, fixing speed breakers, installing warning and direction signboards, closing unauthorized road cuts, and other safety improvements.
  • Urban Development & Local Bodies Department:
    Removing encroachments from footpaths, repairing streetlights, relocating stray animals to safe places, and taking multiple urban safety measures.

The campaign aims to significantly enhance road safety and reduce accident rates through strict enforcement, public awareness, and improved infrastructure.
