Cabinet Approves ₹827 Crore Capital Support for Nashik, Nagpur & Dharashiv District Banks
Mumbai, Nov 2025 : The state cabinet has approved ₹827 crore as share capital assistance for the Nashik, Nagpur, and Dharashiv District Central Cooperative Banks. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Under this, Nashik District Bank will receive ₹672 crore, Nagpur ₹81 crore, and Dharashiv ₹74 crore.
The Reserve Bank of India had informed the state government about the need for recapitalization and revival of these three district banks. Accordingly, financial assistance as share capital was approved in today’s meeting.
District Central Cooperative Banks play a crucial role in providing crop loans to farmers. The financial strength of these banks directly affects the functioning of service cooperatives. Therefore, a total of ₹827 crore has been sanctioned as share capital support. Nashik District Bank will receive ₹336 crore in the current financial year and another ₹336 crore in the next year.
Nashik and Nagpur district banks are currently under administration. Dharashiv District Bank has a board of directors, but due to its deteriorating financial condition, approval has been given to dissolve the board and appoint an administrator, with instructions to be issued to the Cooperative Commissioner.
8,282 Additional Security Personnel to be Appointed for Courts and Judges
To strengthen the security of courts, court premises, and the residences of judges, the cabinet has approved the appointment of 8,282 additional security guards. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. These personnel will be provided through the Maharashtra State Security Corporation (MSSC).
A Public Interest Litigation regarding court security had been filed before the Aurangabad Bench (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) of the Bombay High Court. The High Court directed the state government to take policy decisions. Following surveys and review meetings, the Home Department and the Law & Judiciary Department submitted a report to the government.
Accordingly, manpower will be provided in the first phase and necessary equipment in the second phase. Security personnel will be deployed at the Bombay High Court, its benches, the Kolhapur Circuit Bench, district courts, other courts across the state, and the residences of judges. Out of these, 4,742 guards will be assigned to courts and 3,540 to judges’ residences.
A budget provision of ₹443.24 crore for their salaries has been approved.
5th Maharashtra Finance Commission Recommendations Extended Till March 2026
The cabinet has decided to extend the implementation period of the 5th Maharashtra Finance Commission’s recommendations by one more year. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The recommendations will now remain in effect until March 31, 2026.
The 5th Finance Commission was formed on March 28, 2018, to present its report and recommendations for five years starting April 1, 2019. The report submission deadline was extended to April 20, 2019. After legislative approval, the implementation period was set from December 16, 2020, to March 2025.
The 6th Finance Commission was established on March 27, 2025, and given a deadline of December 31, 2025, to submit its report. However, its chairman, Mukesh Khullar, passed away unexpectedly. Dr. Nitin Kareer has now been appointed as the new chairman. The commission will present its report for the next five-year period beginning April 1, 2026.
Thus, the implementation period of the 5th Commission’s recommendations has now been extended until March 31, 2026, with approval granted to the Finance Department for required legislative action.
₹90.61 Crore Approved for Digras Storage Tank Project in Hingoli
The cabinet has approved the Digras Storage Tank Project in Hingoli district along with a budget provision of ₹90.61 crore. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The Digras storage tank is a minor irrigation project. A 3.71 MCM capacity earthen dam will be constructed across a nala near Digras village under the Godavari Marathwada Irrigation Development Corporation. The project will bring 603 hectares of land under irrigation in Digras, Lohgaon, and Dategaon villages of Hingoli taluka. It will also help resolve drinking water issues and promote industrial growth, sustainable agriculture, and other developmental works in Hingoli district.
₹124 Crore Approved for Sukali Storage Tank Project in Hingoli
The cabinet has also approved the Sukali Storage Tank Project in Sengao taluka of Hingoli district. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. A budget provision of ₹124.36 crore has been sanctioned.
The Sukali storage tank is also a minor irrigation project. A 4.07 MCM capacity earthen dam will be constructed across a nala near Sukali village under the Godavari Marathwada Irrigation Development Corporation. This project will bring 677 hectares of land under irrigation in Sukali and Dataala villages of Sengao taluka. It will also address drinking water needs and promote industrial development, sustainable farming, and other growth activities in Hingoli district.
