Qatar Should Partner with Maharashtra for Skill Development: Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha

Minister Lodha appeals to the Qatar delegation

Mumbai, Nov 2025 : India is the country with the largest youth population in the world and therefore holds a vast pool of young human resources. If Qatar signs an agreement with the Maharashtra government, students in the state can be trained in skill development according to the needs of industries in Qatar. Qatar should also invest in Maharashtra and contribute to the state’s development. Such cooperation will benefit both countries, Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship & Innovation Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said.

At the Sahyadri Guest House, Minister Lodha held discussions with a delegation from the Qatar Leadership Centre. Present on the occasion were Praveen Pardeshi, CEO of MITRA; Dr. Rajesh Gawande, Chief Protocol Officer and Secretary; Mahanna Jabor Al-Naimi, Relationship Manager at Qatar Leadership Centre; delegation head Rashid Mohammed Al-Menai; and other members of the delegation.

Minister Lodha said that diplomatic relations between Qatar and India date back to 1973. Around 8.5 lakh Indian citizens reside in Qatar, contributing significantly to its development process. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also visited Qatar twice. During his visits, he interacted with the Indian community there and emphasised strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.

Minister Lodha expressed his appreciation to the delegation and said that strong foundations of friendship and development between the two nations would help build a bright and resilient relationship in the future.

During the meeting, Al-Naimi and Al-Menai spoke on behalf of the delegation. MITRA CEO Praveen Pardeshi highlighted Maharashtra’s developmental initiatives and the state’s importance across various sectors.
