Indian Naval Chief Reiterates the Bolstering Development of Indian Armed Forces.
Dec 2025 : The 149th Course of the National Defence Academy (NDA) culminated with the Parade Ceremony held at Khadakwasla on Sunday. The parade marked the apotheosis of Three Years of rigorous military training for 329 cadets, including trainees from friendly foreign countries.
Reviewing the parade, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi congratulated the cadets for successfully completing their training and praised the academy’s legacy of excellence.
The Navy Chief said it was a matter of “great honour” for him, as an NDA alumnus, to review the Passing Out Parade of the 149th course. “Today’s Passing Out Parade marks the culmination of your rigorous training, hard work and determination. To the 329 cadets of the passing out course, including 20 from friendly foreign countries, my heartiest congratulations to each one of you. I am also delighted to see the second batch of women cadets graduating today, 15 of them standing shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts, reaffirming that the service honours only one standard, that is merit“, he said.
While speaking with the Journalists on the sidelines of the Passing Out Parade (POP), the Naval Chief ruled out any delay in an Indian missile test due to the presence of a Chinese spy vessel asserting that he was not fully aware of the specifics of the matter, adding that such claims could also be somebody’s figment of imagination.
“I am not fully aware of the specifics of this. This could also be somebody’s figment of imagination, maybe planted. But in the past, we have noticed the appearance of survey ships and satellite tracking ships in our area of interest, and in the past, sometimes we had to recalibrate our own activities, and it is happening worldwide. This is a normal practice that happens in all parts of the world“, Admiral Tripathi said.
The Chief has expressed optimism about Bangladesh future, describing the current situation as a “temporary and transitory moment”. Tripathi chose to maintain a cautious stance. Amidst the ongoing turmoil in Bangladesh, he emphasised India’s commitment to its friendly ties with the neighbouring nation.
Admiral Tripathi said, “I would still refrain from calling Bangladesh anything other than a friend because this could be only a temporary and transitory moment. We’ll have to wait; elections have to happen, and then something else can happen“.
The situation in Bangladesh remains uncertain, with concerns about human rights, electoral reforms, and economic stability. The international community, including the United Nations, has urged a peaceful transition and respect for human rights. He emphasised India’s friendly relations with Bangladesh, stating that he’s an “eternal optimist” and hopes things will improve after the country’s parliamentary elections in February 2026.
He added, “I am an eternal optimist, and I hope that things will turn around as far as Bangladesh is concerned“. Admiral Tripathi’s comments reflect India’s diplomatic approach, prioritising friendship and cooperation with Bangladesh. The country is currently governed by an interim administration led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, following the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina amidst student-led protests. India and Bangladesh share historical and cultural ties, and India’s support for Bangladesh’s development and stability is evident in its various initiatives and collaborations.
Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Navy Chief added, “Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, the path of peace also goes through power. You embody the power that safeguards peace and today’s spectacular parade has reaffirmed that conviction“.
Furthermore, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi on Sunday said that Operation Sindoor is still in progress and refrained from sharing operational details while emphasising the high level of coordination among the armed forces.
“Operation Sindoor is still ongoing; it is not over. Anything pertaining to operation is best avoided. The air defence between the three services is integrated, and it was done
during Operation Sindoor as well. The navy is fully on board“.
He stated that Operation Sindoor demonstrated the effectiveness of the Navy’s constant readiness model, noting that the presence of the carrier battle group in the Northern Arabian Sea exerted pressure that kept Pakistan’s navy close to its coast or inside its harbours following the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
Admiral Tripathi delivered the remarks during the sixth Admiral J.G. Nadkarni Memorial Lecture, organised by the Navy Foundation Pune Chapter (NFPC), in honour of the 16th Chief of Naval Staff.
While, responding to questions on India’s aircraft carrier plans, the Navy Chief highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong carrier fleet. He stated:
“We heard Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in the Samudra Utkarsh Seminar talking about the power of the aircraft carrier and the need for it and how they are important. INS Vikramaditya is nearing its retirement, so when we induct the next aircraft carrier, it will be time for INS Vikramaditya to go.
We will have only two aircraft carriers at the time“.
