Mizoram Rural Bank Achieves ₹10,000 Crore Business Milestone; Unveils New Logo and Announces CSR Initiatives

Aizawl, December 2025: Mizoram Rural Bank (MRB) today celebrated the achievement of a major business milestone of ₹10,000 crore in total business at a special function held at the MRB Head Office Auditorium, MINECO, Khatla. The programme was attended by Pu Khilli Ram Meena, Chief Secretary, Government of Mizoram, as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary congratulated Mizoram Rural Bank on reaching the ₹10,000 crore mark, stating that the achievement was not merely a number but a reflection of the bank’s commitment, sustained efforts, and strong teamwork. He noted with appreciation that the bank’s financial position remained robust, highlighting that MRB has Net NPA at 0 per cent and a Capital to Risk-Weighted Assets Ratio (CRAR) of 16.80 per cent. He encouraged the bank to continue working with greater dedication and to further strengthen its role in improving the financial well-being of the people of Mizoram.

Welcoming the guests, Pi Sheryl L. Vanchhong, Chairman, Mizoram Rural Bank, presented an overview of the bank’s performance. Established in 1983, MRB now operates 106 branches across all 11 districts of Mizoram. She noted that the bank has played a significant role in financial inclusion, effectively implementing various schemes of the Central and State governments, and has emerged as one of the best-performing banks when compared with its peers. She attributed the achievement of the ₹10,000 crore business milestone to the trust and confidence reposed by the people of the state.

The event was also addressed by Pu Tapan Kumar Mandal, Deputy Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, on behalf of the Board of Directors, and Pu T. Lhungdim, General Manager & Officer-in-Charge, RBI, Aizawl Office, representing the regulator.

Among those present were Pu T. Lhungdim, GM & OIC, RBI, Aizawl Office; Pu T.H. Haokholal, DGM, RBI, Aizawl Office; Pu Pankaja Borah, GM & OIC, NABARD Regional Office, Aizawl; Pi Mina Zoliani Joute, Joint Director, Information & Public Relations, Government of Mizoram; members of the MRB Board of Directors, senior officers, and other distinguished invitees. On the occasion, MRB honoured its Board of Directors with mementos in recognition of their guidance and leadership. Pu R. Lalnunzira, Director, Agriculture Department, Government of Mizoram, was also felicitated as the event coincided with his last working day in service.

A uniform logo designed for all 28 Regional Rural Banks in India was officially unveiled, and Mizoram Rural Bank will adopt this new logo with effect from today.

To mark the milestone, MRB recognised the efforts of its branches by awarding 19 best-performing branches selected through various performance parameters, along with two outstanding individual performers who played a key role in achieving the target.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, MRB also announced the following contributions:

  • An ambulance van for Chhingchhip PHC
  • 20 sets of chairs, tables, and computers for the MYC Computer Laboratory
  • Construction of 85 hostel beds for Helen Lowry School, Seventh Day, Tlang
  • Food baskets worth ₹700 each per month for six months for 106 TB patients under the TB Cell, NHM (one patient supported by each branch)

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Pu Lallawmzuala Colney, General Manager, Mizoram Rural Bank, who formally closed the programme.
