Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that the relationship between Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra is not limited to geographical boundaries alone, but is deeply connected through a shared legacy of saint traditions, cultural consciousness, and social reform. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was virtually addressing, from Indore on Sunday, the centenary year celebration of Maharashtra Shikshan Mandal held in Jabalpur.
On this occasion, Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, State Public Works Minister Shri Rakesh Singh, and Transport and School Education Minister Shri Uday Pratap Singh were also specially present.
A Glorious History in Education
Congratulating the institution on completing 100 years, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the institution, established in 1926, has played a significant role in the field of education both before and after independence. He stated that inspired by the ideals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Peshwas Bajirao, and the Shinde, Holkar, and Gaekwad dynasties made important contributions to the development of Madhya Pradesh and the preservation of its culture.
New Education Policy and PM Excellence Colleges
Referring to the government’s achievements in the education sector, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is among the leading states in implementing the New Education Policy of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The state government has started ‘PM Excellence Colleges’ in 55 districts. In addition, biographies of local and national heroes have been included in the curriculum so that the younger generation can draw inspiration from them. He informed that the government has established Tantya Mama University in Khargone, Tatya Tope University in Guna, and Rani Avantibai University in Gwalior.
New Generation Must Be Prepared for Technologies Like Artificial Intelligence: Maharashtra CM Shri Fadnavis
Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis said that merely taking pride in history is not enough; the new generation must be prepared for technologies such as Artificial Intelligence. He said that if Maharashtra Shikshan Mandal starts any new initiative or course for teaching the Marathi language in Jabalpur, the Maharashtra government will provide the required funds and full support. He added that under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s New Education Policy, priority has been given to education in the mother tongue, including in medical and engineering studies.
Chief Minister Shri Fadnavis said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj gave the slogan of ‘Swarajya’ along with ‘Swadharma’ and ‘Swabhasha’. Referring to the Battle of Panipat, he said that the Marathas fought not just for their own empire, but for the defense of the entire nation. He stated that a Marathi person never has a narrow outlook; rather, their perspective is always national and global.
Cautioning the institution about the future, he said that while the world has witnessed the era of Information Technology and Communication, it is now moving towards a wave of Artificial Intelligence, which will have a deep impact on the education sector. He urged the office-bearers of the institution to plan for the next 25 to 50 years and prepare students for the challenges of AI.
Referring to the Prime Minister’s mantra of “development as well as heritage,” Shri Fadnavis said that only those societies progress which take pride in their heritage. Mentioning books written by Prashant Pal, he said that the true history of India is now coming forth with evidence, breaking old misconceptions. Shri Fadnavis said that despite being busy with elections in Maharashtra, he attended the program because wherever Maharashtra’s name and education are associated, he cannot stay away. During the program, the commemorative publication of Maharashtra Shikshan Mandal was also released.
Shri Fadnavis’s Visionary Contribution to Jabalpur’s Development Blueprint: Public Works Minister Shri Singh
Public Works Minister Shri Rakesh Singh said that Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri. Devendra Fadnavis played an important role in laying the foundation of the present form of development of Sanskardhani Jabalpur. He described Shri Fadnavis as a “visionary” leader. Sharing an old anecdote, he recalled that when Shri Fadnavis was an legislator, he visited densely populated localities such as Bada Fuhara and Chhota Fuhara late at night during his stay in Jabalpur. At that time, Shri Fadnavis had said that with strong willpower, Jabalpur could progress rapidly. Based on the points suggested by him, the city’s development blueprint was prepared.
Minister Shri Singh also said that for infrastructure development in Madhya Pradesh, they would follow innovations from Maharashtra and study its “infrastructure model.”
Local Language Is Essential for the All-Round Development of Students: Transport and School Education Minister Shri Singh
Transport Minister Shri Uday Pratap Singh, sharing his memories, said that he himself is an alumnus of this school and studied here for four months. He said that 40–42 years ago, institutions like Maharashtra High School, Christ Church, and Model School were among the few reputed institutions providing quality education in Jabalpur. Praising the New Education Policy, he said that local languages and Indian culture, such as the Ramayana and the Gita, are now being included in the teaching system, which is essential for the holistic development of students.
The ceremony was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Mrs. Sumitra Balmik, MP Shri Ashish Dubey, Mayor Shri Jagat Bahadur Singh Annu, MLA Ajay Vishnoli, Dr. Abhilash Pandey, Shri Neeraj Singh, Municipal Corporation President Shri Rikunj Vij, senior social worker and thinker Shri Prashant Pal, Shri Akhilesh Jain, Municipal President Shri Ratnesh Sonkar, renowned medical professional Dr. Jamdar, along with office-bearers of Maharashtra Shikshan Mandal, teachers, and a large number of students.
