Conviction, Trust and Shared Destiny Define Vishakha’s 25-Year Journey, Says Gautam Adani

New Delhi, Jan 2026 : Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani delivered a reflective and inspiring address on Saturday at the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Vishakha Group, describing the company’s growth as “a story not of contracts, but of conviction, trust, and shared destiny.”

Addressing employees, business partners and members of the founding Doshi family, Adani traced the roots of Vishakha’s long-standing association with the Adani Group to 1992, a period marked by global uncertainty and economic stress. He recalled how the aftermath of the Gulf War disrupted global supply chains and led to a sharp devaluation of the Indian rupee, creating a severe crisis in the polymer trade.

During that turbulent phase, polymer imports fell drastically and manufacturing units across India faced the prospect of shutting down. Adani Exports, now Adani Enterprises, was compelled to cut supplies to distributors by nearly half. Adani noted that while many traders saw the crisis as an opportunity to maximise profits, Vishakha founder Jigish Doshi chose a different path.

Instead of seeking a larger allocation for himself, Doshi approached Adani along with a group of small customers to explain the wider impact of the shortages on livelihoods and industry. Deeply impressed by this sense of responsibility and fairness, Adani decided to supply polymers directly to Doshi, extending credit support and bypassing intermediary distributors.

“That decision marked the birth of a friendship built on trust, principles and mutual respect,” Adani said, adding that this foundation of values went on to define the partnership between the two groups for decades.

Highlighting Vishakha’s industrial journey, Adani praised the company’s solar glass manufacturing facility, calling it a “national capability” that aligns with India’s clean energy ambitions. He noted that within just 24 months, Vishakha established India’s largest solar glass furnace with a capacity of 660 tonnes per day, a scale and quality that matches global benchmarks.

Adani further revealed that an even more ambitious Phase 2 expansion is currently underway. Once completed, the project will nearly double production capacity to 1,260 tonnes per day, making it the largest solar glass furnace ever built in India. He said such achievements reflect not just technological excellence, but the confidence to pursue bold, long-term visions.

Concluding his address, Adani remarked that “the picture is still incomplete,” signalling that the Vishakha–Adani partnership has far greater aspirations ahead. He expressed confidence that the collaboration will play a significant role in shaping India’s future in renewable energy and advanced materials, guided by the same values of trust and shared purpose that sparked the partnership more than three decades ago.
