Visakhapatnam, Sept 2026 : Former Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and senior political leader Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas, popularly known as Alla Nani, died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday. He was 57.
Alla Nani breathed his last at his residence in Visakhapatnam, leaving political leaders and supporters across the state shocked. He had a long political career spanning the Congress and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) before joining the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Alla Nani began his political journey with the Congress and was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Eluru in 2004 and 2009. After leaving the Congress, he joined the YSRCP and contested the 2014 Assembly elections, though he was unsuccessful.
In 2017, Alla Nani was elected to the Legislative Council under the MLA quota. He returned to the Assembly in 2019 after winning the Eluru seat.
Following the YSRCP's victory in the 2019 Assembly elections, Alla Nani was appointed Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Medical and Health in the government led by then Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He held the two positions from 2019 to 2022 and played a key role in the state's health administration.
Last year, Alla Nani quit the YSRCP and joined the TDP.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu condoled his death and expressed shock over the demise of the former Deputy Chief Minister at a relatively young age. Naidu said he was deeply saddened by the news of Alla Nani's death and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also expressed grief over the sudden demise of Alla Nani. Describing him as a senior political leader from Eluru, Pawan Kalyan recalled that Alla Nani had served as the Eluru MLA three times and as an MLC once.
Pawan Kalyan prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and conveyed his condolences to Alla Nani's family members.
Former Chief Minister and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed deep shock and sorrow over the death. He described Alla Nani's passing as untimely and painful, recalling his long association with public life and his service as an MLA from Eluru.
Jagan also remembered Alla Nani's contribution as Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister in the YSRCP government, saying he had discharged his responsibilities in the public health sector with dedication.
Jagan said Alla Nani's death was an irreparable loss to his family, relatives, supporters and admirers. He prayed for peace for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family.
