Unique Confluence of Maharashtra’s Art, Culture, Cuisine and Handicrafts; Attractive Stalls to Add to the Festive Experience
New Delhi, September 2026 : This year’s Ganeshotsav at Maharashtra Sadan on Copernicus Marg in the national capital will be celebrated in a devotional atmosphere, along with a series of programmes showcasing Maharashtra’s rich art, culture, culinary traditions and textile heritage. Under the guidance of Resident Commissioner and Secretary Dr Shweta Singhal, the Public Ganeshotsav Committee has organised a variety of religious, cultural and entertainment programmes from September 14 to 25, 2026. The main objective of the festival is to provide Delhi residents an opportunity to experience Maharashtra’s rich traditions firsthand.
During the Ganeshotsav, Maha Aarti of Lord Ganesha will be performed daily at 9 am and 6.15 pm. On the first day of the festival, September 14, a procession of Lord Ganesha will be held at 10 am, followed by the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at 11 am. A bhajan programme will be organised at the old Maharashtra Sadan at 7 pm.
On September 15, the popular Marathi play ‘Punha Sahi Re Sahi’, featuring Bharat Jadhav and other artistes, will be staged at Akashvani Rang Bhavan on Sansad Marg from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm. On September 16, a ‘Nitin Sarkate Hansraj’ live concert will be held at the old Maharashtra Sadan at 6.30 pm.
On September 17, Akashvani Rang Bhavan will host a special programme titled ‘Marathi Film Songs’, featuring Vaibhav Joshi and Sandeep Khare. On September 18, ‘Maharashtra’s Folk Art’, presented by Santosh Bhangare, will be organised.
On September 19, puja and Mahaprasad will be held from noon to 2 pm. At 6.30 pm, the old Maharashtra Sadan will host a Marathi ghazal programme by renowned ghazal singer Bhimrao Panchale. On September 20, the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Centre at Janpath will host a ‘Marathi Film Songs’ programme featuring Vaishali Samant, Rishikesh Ranade, Sharayu Date and other singers.
On September 21, a ‘Pak Kalakriti’ cooking competition will be held at 4.30 pm, followed by a Bharatanatyam performance presented by Sadhvi Jethwani at the old Maharashtra Sadan at 6.30 pm. On September 22, a special programme titled ‘Khel Paithanicha’, presented by Rajendra Kshirsagar, has been organised.
On September 23, Akashvani Rang Bhavan will host a Lavani programme presented by Pramila Lodgekar. On September 24, the old Maharashtra Sadan will host ‘Bolly Beats’, a Hindi-Marathi singing and dance programme presented by Monica Kapoor.
Special Attractions of Ganeshotsav
This year’s Ganeshotsav will offer more than cultural programmes, with a special glimpse into Maharashtra’s culinary culture, handicrafts and textile traditions. Under the initiative ‘Chav Maharashtra Chi!’ (The Taste of Maharashtra!), a live stall showcasing the preparation of puran poli and ukadiche modak will be a major attraction.
Under the initiative ‘Kaushalyala Salaam!’ (Salute to Skill!), various artistic products created with skill and dedication by persons with disabilities will be displayed. The initiative will also convey a message of encouraging and promoting their artistic talents.
The initiative ‘Maharashtra’s Unique Textile Heritage!’ will feature an attractive display of Paithani, Induri, Maheshwari and Irkal sarees, along with a range of handloom products. In addition, under ‘Kharedichi Parvani!’ (A Shopper’s Delight!), visitors will be able to explore a variety of attractive stalls, handicrafts and distinctive products.
The combination of food, culture, art and shopping is expected to become a major attraction for citizens participating in the Ganeshotsav celebrations.
Grand Immersion Procession to Mark the Conclusion
The Ganeshotsav celebrations will conclude on September 25. A grand immersion procession of Lord Ganesha, accompanied by a zanj percussion troupe, will be taken out from the old Maharashtra Sadan between 3 pm and 7.30 pm.
All programmes during the festival are free of charge. However, online registration will be mandatory for programmes scheduled on September 15, 17, 18, 20 and 23.
Resident Commissioner and Secretary Dr Shweta Singhal has appealed to citizens of Delhi, admirers of Maharashtra and devotees of Lord Ganesha to participate in large numbers and enjoy the festival’s diverse religious, cultural, artistic and culinary traditions.
