NEW DELHI, Sept 2026 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said no action had been taken against BJP MLA Anil Sharma’s illegal PG (Paying Guest) in Satya Niketan despite evidence of the unauthorised construction, due to his influence. He said the MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) had repeatedly bowed to Anil Sharma’s influence, pointing out that this was not the first complaint against him.
The Ambedkar Kalyan Samiti had raised the issue of encroachment on government land and illegal construction four years ago, followed by a complaint from an AAP MLA in September 2022. Yet, neither the LG nor the MCD took action, Saurabh Bharadwaj said, attributing the inaction to the BJP’s 20-year control over the civic body.
On Tuesday, posting on X, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj stated,“Four years back, written complaint was given against MLA Anil Sharma by Ambedkar Kalyan Samiti for encroaching Govt land and illegal construction of 5 star PG at Satya Niketan/Moti Bagh. No action was taken.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj further stated, “The same complaint was also forwarded by AAP MLA to Lieutenant Governor & Municipal Cooperation of Delhi (MCD) on 22.9.2022. But no action was taken because illegal construction comes under MCD. And BJP Govt has been effectively ruling MCD for last 20 years.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj also shared on X a copy of the complaint submitted four years ago by the Ambedkar Kalyan Samiti to then Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. In the complaint, the committee stated that it was reporting a land scam involving former BJP MLA Anil Sharma, who had demolished and taken possession of houses belonging to residents of Moti Bagh Nanakpura (New Delhi-21).
The committee stated in the letter,“Anil Sharma was getting those houses transferred in his own name by telling a false story to ministers of his own government and is now carrying out illegal construction on those properties to turn them into five-star hotels. Two thousand square yards of land in front of House No. 11/78, near Moti Bagh Gurudwara over Ring Road, is being encroached upon, while the Delhi and Central governments are watching with their eyes closed.”
The letter further read, “The Chief Minister should take immediate action, stop the illegal activity and constitute an inquiry committee. The inquiry committee should determine how Anil Sharma and his family came to be in possession of 5,000 square yards of land when the residents of Moti Bagh village had only 50 square yards each. This is vacant DDA land that Anil Sharma has encroached upon and on which illegal construction is now being carried out.”
The Ambedkar Kalyan Samiti further stated that the Prime Minister of the country says that he will not allow corruption, but people from his own party are occupying land belonging to Dalits and backward communities and constructing large hotels and guest houses, yet the Delhi Police, MCD and DDA were taking no action.
The committee noted in its letter that Anil Sharma claimed that MCD Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti was his friend and that he had paid money to the Delhi Police Commissioner. It further said that the MCD Commissioner and Delhi Police take crores of rupees in bribes, which is why no action is taken.
The Ambedkar Kalyan Samiti letter continued,“The DDA Director should also investigate how the 5,000 square yards of land was encroached upon. We have also requested the Shri Bhure Lal Committee constituted by the Supreme Court to investigate the land scam and send corrupt officials to jail. We urge the Supreme Court to investigate the matter and protect Moti Bagh, a village of Dalit and backward communities, from their atrocities.”
“Those who speak against them are beaten up by Anil Sharma’s goons and made to suffer. While the BJP gets false cases filed against Aam Aadmi Party leaders, its own former MLA Anil Sharma can carry out such a large land scam without any action being taken against him,” the letter concluded.
