Lucknow, September 2026 : The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved the construction of bus stations at three locations in the state. The Cabinet has approved the proposal for the free transfer and mutation of Revenue Department land in Shohratgarh and Badhni of Siddharthnagar Assembly constituency, and in Tehsil Sawayajpur of Hardoi district, to the Transport Department for the construction of bus stations.
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Transport Dayashankar Singh said that, as per the proposal, bus stations are to be constructed in Shohratgarh town and Badhni town of Shohratgarh Assembly constituency in Siddharthnagar district, and in Tehsil Sawayajpur of Hardoi district. For the construction of these bus stations, the identified land of the Revenue Department will be made available to the Transport Department.
Dayashankar Singh stated that improved transport facilities will promote social development, improve living standards, and also encourage tourism. Under this infrastructure development, the road network will improve and traffic-related problems will be reduced.
With the construction of these bus stations, people living in and around the towns will get direct and indirect employment opportunities. Along with this, passengers will be provided convenient transport services along with necessary amenities within the bus station premises. The project is expected to promote regional economic development, increase trade and employment opportunities, and strengthen the local economy.
New dimension to digital education in UP government schools, 14,429 schools to become smart

Yogi government has taken a major step to further strengthen digital education in government primary schools of Uttar Pradesh. In the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the government designated Shreetron India Limited as the executing agency to develop government primary schools as 'Smart Schools'. UP Cabinet has decided to develop 14,429 primary schools as Smart Schools against the approved amount of Rs. 300 crore. The state will establish smart classes in these schools in a phased manner.
The state government has been continuously working to expand digital facilities in Basic Education. At present, smart class facilities are available in more than 32,000 schools, ICT labs in more than 15,000 schools and digital libraries in 1,129 schools. In addition, tablets have already been provided to more than 2 lakh 61 thousand teachers. The government aims to provide children in government schools with better opportunities for quality, modern education through digital means. The Yogi government started smart classes in Uttar Pradesh primary schools in 2021, and their formal operation began in the 2022-23 academic session. Through smart classes, children are benefiting from digital means to understand subjects. Now, the decision to develop primary schools as Smart Schools will further expand this system.
According to the Cabinet decision, primary schools under the Basic Education Department will be developed as 'Smart Schools'. For this, smart classes will be established in 14,429 primary schools against the approved amount of Rs. 300 crore. The work of establishing smart classes will be carried out through a competitive tender as per rules. For this, a proposed rate of Rs. 2,07,910 per school, including sanitation charges and GST, has been fixed. If the tender process yields a lower rate per school, more primary schools can be developed as Smart Schools within the approved total amount of Rs. 300 crore.
Smart classes and ICT labs will be established in council schools in a phased manner, based on student numbers and enrolment. Under the Samagra Shiksha scheme of the Government of India, smart classes and ICT labs will also be established in schools with high enrolment in a phased manner under the Digital Initiative Program in government upper primary schools.
Developing primary schools as Smart Schools will enable children to benefit from modern technology along with the traditional teaching system. Smart classes and ICT labs will help make students' learning more effective and interesting. Digital libraries will also provide children with additional digital resources for learning. The Yogi government prioritizes providing children across the state with better, modern, technology-based education. The continuous expansion of digital resources in government schools is part of this commitment, so more and more children can keep pace with changing technology.

At the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the CM residence on Tuesday, the Cabinet took an important decision to accelerate planned urban development in the state. Under the 'Mukhyamantri Shahari Vistareekaran/Naye Shahar Protsahan Yojana ', approval was given for financial sanction and release of a total of Rs. 380 crore as the first installment for the projects of Lucknow, Unnao and Rae Bareli Development Authorities. This decision will help advance work on developing new cities, land acquisition, and expansion of residential facilities.
Special Secretary, Housing, Rajesh Kumar Rai, provided information on the matter. He stated that, keeping in view the growing urban population and residential needs in Uttar Pradesh, the state government is emphasizing planned and systematic development of urban areas. To this end, the Government implemented the Mukhyamantri Shahari Vistareekaran/Naye Shahar Protsahan Yojana through the Government Order dated April 6, 2023.
The scheme aims to provide residential facilities to the general population, along with the systematic expansion of urban areas. Under the scheme, the government encourages land acquisition for the development of new cities and related infrastructure facilities. This decision will provide financial assistance to the proposed new city projects in Lucknow, Unnao and Rae Bareli. This will help take forward urban development plans and create a foundation to meet future residential needs.
Under the Mukhyamantri Shahari Vistareekaran/Naye Shahar Protsahan Yojana, the state government may provide up to 50% of the expenditure incurred on land acquisition as seed capital. This amount can be made available for up to 20 years. The objective of this arrangement is to provide financial assistance to development authorities for acquiring the land required for new cities. After land acquisition, development authorities can take forward the overall and proper development of the respective projects. Seed capital from the state government will help reduce the immediate financial burden of land acquisition on development authorities. This will help accelerate new city projects.
Under the scheme, a maximum amount of Rs. 655.76 crore has been approved as seed capital for the projects of Lucknow, Unnao and Rae Bareli Development Authorities. Against this, financial sanction of a total of Rs. 380 crore has been provided as the first installment. The release of this amount will help the three development authorities take forward land acquisition and work related to the development of new cities under their respective projects.
A provision of Rs. 3,500 crore has been made in the Financial Year 2026-27 for overall and proper development of new cities in the state. This budgetary provision is significant in providing a financial foundation for new-city development works. This will strengthen the capacity to take forward projects related to urban expansion, land acquisition, and the development of residential facilities in the state. The development of essential basic infrastructure facilities required for constructing new cities is also expected to gain momentum.
The primary objective of the Mukhyamantri Shahari Vistareekaran/Naye Shahar Protsahan Yojana is to provide residential facilities to the general population, along with planned and systematic development in urban areas. Under this scheme, the government encourages land acquisition and the overall development of new cities. The approval of Rs. 380 crore as the first installment for projects in Lucknow, Unnao, and Rae Bareli will help move forward the development of new cities in these areas.
