Hyderabad, Sept 2026 : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday ordered an inquiry into the landholdings of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, including the extent of land surrounding his farmhouse at Erravalli in Siddipet district.
Speaking in the State Legislative Assembly during a discussion on Section 22A of the Registration Act, 1908, Revanth Reddy directed the Revenue Department to complete the inquiry within 30 days. He said the exercise would establish the extent of land purchased by KCR, the land currently available and the ownership and control of land allegedly classified as government property.
The Chief Minister specifically questioned whether KCR’s Erravalli farmhouse was spread across 700 acres and raised questions over the status of 388 acres that he claimed was government land. He directed the Revenue Department and the district Collector to issue a notice to KCR and verify the relevant land records.
The government has also proposed reclaiming the alleged 388 acres and distributing the land among 800 Dalit families. Revanth Reddy asked ministers Damodar Raja Narasimha, G. Vivek Venkatswamy and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy to resolve the matter within 30 days. He warned that action would be taken against the concerned Revenue officials and ministers if the issue was not settled within the stipulated period.
The Chief Minister also placed before the Assembly figures relating to alleged landholdings of members of the KCR family. According to his statement, the extended family collectively holds about 439 acres across 31 villages in nine districts. The figures were presented by the Chief Minister during the Assembly debate and form part of the government's allegations regarding land transactions.
Revanth Reddy said KCR and his wife were associated with around 67.13 acres in Siddipet, while the family of KCR’s son K. T. Rama Rao was stated to hold around 123 acres. The family of former minister T. Harish Rao was listed with around 30.16 acres, while K. Kavitha and her husband were stated to hold 37.26 acres.
The Chief Minister further said the family of former MP Jognipalli Santosh Rao held around 79 acres, while relatives Naveen Rao and Kondal Rao together accounted for about 101.14 acres. Some recently published reports cite slightly different figures for individual family members, reflecting variations in the data presented or reported from the Assembly proceedings.
The land issue was raised amid a broader controversy over Section 22A of the Registration Act, under which certain categories of properties are placed on the prohibited list. The government has been facing questions over the classification of private properties as government or prohibited land.
Revanth Reddy also alleged that large-scale irregularities had taken place during the previous BRS government through the Dharani land-records portal. He put the alleged value of the irregularities at Rs 1 lakh crore and announced that a Special Inquiry Team would be constituted to investigate the allegations.
The Chief Minister said irregularities related to Dharani Part-I had come to light and claimed that further issues concerning Dharani Part-II would also be examined. He also said alleged irregularities involving Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) lands would be brought before the Assembly during the Budget Session.
The government has additionally decided to constitute a high-powered committee of senior officials to address issues arising from Section 22A. Revanth Reddy said guidelines to resolve the matter would be prepared within a week.
The Chief Minister said all facts concerning alleged irregularities during the previous BRS regime would be presented before the Assembly, including in the presence of BRS members.
The latest developments add to the ongoing political and administrative dispute over land records, assigned lands and the implementation of the Dharani system in Telangana. The proposed inquiries and verification of land records are expected to determine the status and ownership of the properties cited by the government.
