Van Dhan Vikas Kendra Provides Employment and Self-Reliance Support to Pahadi Korwa Women

Raipur, Jan 2026: The Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana has emerged as an effective initiative for the holistic development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). Under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the scheme is being successfully implemented at the grassroots level, and its positive impact is now becoming visible in rural areas.

In this context, the PVTG Van Dhan Vikas Kendra established in village Jagima under the Shankargarh forest range of Balrampur district has emerged as a strong livelihood support system for women of the Pahadi Korwa community. Under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana, a self-help group comprising 10 Pahadi Korwa women has been formed, providing them with employment opportunities within their own village.

Earlier, due to the lack of employment opportunities, these women were confined to household work or were compelled to engage in temporary wage labour to support their families. After the formation of the self-help group, the women were entrusted with the task of manufacturing flower brooms. Under the scheme, financial assistance was provided for the purchase of raw materials required for broom making, enabling the women to procure materials independently and carry out production on a regular basis.

The sale of flower brooms produced at the Van Dhan Vikas Kendra has ensured a steady source of income for the group. The women associated with the group stated that access to employment within their village has significantly improved their economic condition. They are now self-reliant, able to shoulder family responsibilities more effectively, and are hopeful about the future.

It is noteworthy that through coordinated and sensitive efforts by the government and administration, the Prime Minister’s vision of tribal upliftment is being realised. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, such initiatives are not only providing economic support to Pahadi Korwa women but are also paving the way toward self-reliance for other unemployed women in rural areas.
