Take Immediate Action to Resolve Power Issues in Vasai–Virar Area: Minister Meghna Sakore-Bordikar
Mumbai, April 2026 : Minister of State for Energy, Public Health, Family Welfare, Water Supply, and Sanitation Meghna Sakore-Bordikar has directed officials to take prompt and effective measures to address electricity-related issues in the Vasai–Virar Municipal Corporation area.
Chairing a review meeting at the MSEB Holding Company headquarters, the minister instructed authorities to act swiftly on concerns raised by public representatives. She emphasised that works which can be completed immediately should be fast-tracked, while larger infrastructure projects should be implemented in a phased manner to ensure timely progress.
The meeting was attended by MLAs Rajan Naik, Sneha Dubey, and Vilas Tare (via video conferencing), along with senior officials from power sector agencies, including transmission and distribution companies, and representatives from the Vasai–Virar Municipal Corporation.
Sakore-Bordikar highlighted the need for accountability in ongoing electricity-related works in the region. She directed that responsibility be fixed on officials and contractors for any lapses or deficiencies, and strict action be taken where necessary. She also instructed the effective deployment of flying squads to monitor the situation and called for the submission of a detailed report on power-related issues.
During the meeting, local representatives shared concerns regarding frequent power disruptions and infrastructure gaps affecting residents in the Vasai–Virar area. The minister assured that these issues would be addressed on priority, with coordinated efforts among all concerned departments.
The directions aim to strengthen power infrastructure, improve service delivery, and ensure reliable electricity supply for residents in one of the rapidly growing urban regions near Mumbai.
