Within six months of signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), an investment of ₹9,000 crore and employment opportunities for 5,000 people will be provided at the Ironipakkam SIPCOT industrial park, where the foundation stone for Tata Motors’ automobile manufacturing unit was laid by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. M.K. Stalin.
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. M.K. Stalin, today (28.09.2024) in Sriperumbudur, during the event organized by the Department of Investment Promotion and Trade, laid the foundation stone for Tata Motors’ automobile manufacturing unit at the Ironipakkam SIPCOT industrial park, which will involve an investment of ₹9,000 crore and provide employment to 5,000 people.
The Tamil Nadu government is making several special initiatives to generate significant employment opportunities for the state’s youth and attract substantial investments with the goal of transforming the state into a $1 trillion economy by 2030. As part of this, the Tamil Nadu government had signed MoUs with 19 companies earlier in the year, attracting ₹7,616 crore in investments during a government delegation visit to the United States, led by the Hon’ble Chief Minister.
The government is committed to full implementation of these industrial projects, aligned with its policy of inclusive growth and creation of high-tech job opportunities.
In the automotive sector, Tata Motors, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, has announced its investment of ₹9,000 crore in the Ironipakkam SIPCOT industrial park. This new plant will use 100% renewable energy and will manufacture Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) luxury vehicles. It is noteworthy that the MoU for this project was signed just six months ago, and today, the foundation stone is being laid.
This serves as an exemplary demonstration of the Tamil Nadu government’s efficiency in executing MoU projects.
Tata Group’s other companies such as TCS, Titan, Tata Power, and Tata Electronics have already established a significant presence in Tamil Nadu. It is also noteworthy that Tata Group’s leadership participated in the event, along with several government officials and dignitaries, including:
- Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Mr. T.R.B. Rajaa
- Members of Parliament and Legislative Assembly
- Senior executives from Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR)
This marks another significant milestone in the industrial growth of Tamil Nadu.
