Property Worth ₹52 Crore Seized in the Last 24 Hours
Mumbai : The model code of conduct has been implemented in the state since October 15, 2024, for the upcoming assembly general elections. Various enforcement agencies of the state and central governments have seized illegal cash, liquor, drugs, and precious metals, totaling ₹90.74 crore from October 15 to 24, 2024, with ₹52 crore being seized in the last 24 hours, as informed by the office of the Chief Election Officer.
Enforcement agencies in Maharashtra, which have been actively operating during the election code of conduct period, successfully seized property worth ₹52 crore in a single day. The success has been attributed to the efficient operation of the check posts established by the police department and other agencies at various locations.

The operations conducted throughout the day included significant actions in Nagpur, Mumbai Suburban, and Ratnagiri districts. This sends a message that the election machinery is vigilant and will not tolerate any attempts to entice voters. The Election Commission has directed that the threads behind each case be investigated to break the chain of crime. Voters can file complaints about violations of the code of conduct through the Commission’s C-Vigil app. As this information is shared with all enforcement agencies, necessary action for seizure is being taken at the required locations.
Income Tax Department’s Independent Control Room Operational 24 Hours
To curb those enticing voters using financial power, the Income Tax Department has also stepped in. During the ongoing assembly elections in the state, the Income Tax Department has established a control room in Mumbai aimed at preventing the misuse of money. This control room will be operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Based on the information provided by citizens, seizure actions are being taken by the Income Tax Department.
99% of Complaints Regarding Code of Conduct Violations on C-Vigil App Resolved
From October 15 to 24, 2024, a total of 1,144 complaints were received on the C-Vigil (C-Vigil app) app across the state, of which 1,142 have been resolved by the Election Commission. This means that a total of 99% of complaints have been resolved, as informed by the office of the Chief Election Officer.
The C-Vigil app, which assists vigilant citizens in adhering to the code of conduct, can be downloaded from any app store. Through this app, citizens can lodge complaints regarding violations of the code of conduct. After a complaint is filed, the relevant team conducts an investigation and takes appropriate action.
