Close Monitoring of Financial Matters and Expenses
Review of Operations by the Central Election Expenditure Inspectorate
Mumbai : The Central Election Expenditure Inspectorate has directed a close monitoring of the expenses incurred by candidates or political parties during the Assembly elections through the District Level Expenditure Control Room.
Saurabh Kumar Sharma, Nagendra Yadav, Mitu Aggarwal, Vinod Kumar, Rajesh Kumar Meena, and Chanchal Meena have been appointed as Central Election Expenditure Inspectors for the Assembly Constituency of Mumbai Suburban District. They are tasked with reviewing financial matters and expenditure activities on a constituency-wise basis.
A cost control meeting of nodal officers was held at the Collector’s office, attended by Additional District Election Officer and Additional Municipal Commissioner (Western Suburbs) Dr. Vipin Sharma, Additional District Election Officer and Additional Municipal Commissioner (Eastern Suburbs) Amit Saini, Additional District Election Officer and Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Abhijit Bangar, Collector and Additional District Election Officer Rajendra Kshirsagar, Additional Collector Manoj Gohad, Deputy Collector (Election) Tejas Samel, senior officers from the police department, and all nodal officers.
Mandatory Reporting of Expenditure to the Expenditure Control Room
Collector and Additional District Election Officer Rajendra Kshirsagar stated that every expenditure by candidates and political parties will be closely monitored. It is mandatory to report the details of each expenditure to the Expenditure Control Room, Mr. Kshirsagar emphasized.
Inspection by Various Agencies
The meeting also addressed the role of various agencies, including the Income Tax Department, State Excise Duty, Central Goods and Services Tax, State Goods and Services Tax, Professional Tax, Narcotics Control Force, and police administration, in preventing the misuse of money, the free supply of liquor, distribution of gifts, or any inducements during the Assembly elections. Additionally, the Border Security Force, Sashastra Seema Bal, Central Police Force, Industrial Security Force, Indian Coast Guard, Railway Protection Force, Department of Posts, Forest Department, Civil Aviation Department, Airport Authority, State Civil Aviation Department, and State Transport Department were informed about the precautions necessary regarding election expenses.
