Yogi govt provides free ultrasounds for 14 lakh pregnant women at private centers
Lucknow : In line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision to make quality healthcare accessible and affordable in Uttar Pradesh, the state government is offering free ultrasounds to pregnant women at private ultrasound centers across the state. To date, over 6 lakh women have benefited from this initiative.
The government is ensuring that pregnant women can access this service at empanelled private centers in any district, eliminating the need for travel.
Emphasizing the Chief Minister’s commitment to protect the health of mothers and children, Dr Pinky Jowal, Director of the National Health Mission (NHM), stated that the government is providing both nutritious food and quality medical care.
Since February 2023, the government has been distributing e-Rupee vouchers for free ultrasounds under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan. A network of 1,861 private ultrasound centers across 75 districts has been empaneled to provide this service. To date, over 1.45 million e-Rupee vouchers have been issued, with 680,000 women having already utilized them.
The e-Rupee vouchers are valid for one month, after which they expire, but can be reissued if not used within the time frame. Vouchers are distributed on the 1st, 9th, 16th, and 24th of each month at district women’s hospitals, joint hospitals, CHCs, and PHCs.
Following CM Yogi’s directive, ASHA workers are conducting door-to-door campaigns to ensure more women are aware of this valuable facility.
