Under the Tamil Nadu Tourism Department, ₹27.34 Crores Development for 7 Tourist Destinations Inaugurated by CM Stalin

In the context of Tamil Nadu’s Tourism Department, 7 tourist spots have been developed with a cost of Rs. 27.34 crore. Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. M.K. Stalin, inaugurated them.

Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. M.K. Stalin, today (26.11.2024) inaugurated, in an official ceremony, tourism projects worth Rs. 27.34 crore, covering tourist spots such as the Aruvi waterfall in Okkukal, Salli village, Andiparai Lake, Thattalai, Muttam beach, Anthiyur Lake, and Ennarkudi-Haritha Nadi, for the benefit of tourists.

Tourism plays a major role in boosting local employment and attracting foreign exchange. Tamil Nadu holds a significant position among the top tourist destinations in India. Tamil Nadu features numerous tourist spots including ancient temples, rich cultural heritage, scenic coastal regions, and beautiful beaches that attract a wide range of tourists.

These tourism projects, encompassing both local and international tourist benefits, are being effectively implemented by the Tamil Nadu Government. The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation, established in 1971 by the revered scholar Kamalanjir, promotes several tourism initiatives, including tour buses, hotels, and specialized food courts for tourists.

For the fiscal years 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24, the Government announced various new projects and implemented development work in tourism infrastructure, including:

  • Rs. 17.57 crore development of the Okkukal Aruvi area with amenities like parking, food courts, and other tourist facilities.
  • Rs. 2.23 crore development of the Thattalai region with improvements to parking and visitor facilities.
  • Rs. 2.22 crore development of the Sali village area, including amenities like parking and restrooms.
  • Rs. 1.47 crore improvements at Andiparai Lake.
  • Rs. 2.84 crore development of the Muttam beach.

In total, these projects have been completed with an investment of Rs. 27.34 crore, further enhancing Tamil Nadu’s tourism offerings.

The event was attended by several notable dignitaries, including the Minister for Tourism, Mr. M.R. Bhagavan, Minister for Urban Development, Mr. S. Muthurami, Minister for Tamil Development, Mr. M.C. Saminathan, Minister for Tourism, Mr. R. Radhakrishnan, Minister for Finance and Investment, Mr. T.R.P. Rajendran, Chief Secretary Mr. N. Muruganandam, and others, who have all supported and contributed to these development efforts.

Representatives from various districts, including the Tharapuram MLA Mr. A. Rani, and other local officials, participated in the event.
