Kannauj police set to become UP’s first digital police
Lucknow : In a significant step toward advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India Mission, the Yogi government is accelerating digital transformation across Uttar Pradesh. By the end of December, all police stations in Kannauj will transition to a paperless e-office system, making it the first district in the state to achieve this milestone.
This shift to a digital platform will streamline administrative functions and mark the end of the paper-based process at police stations.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Kumar Anand highlighted that the Yogi government is consistently advancing the Digital India Mission, driving significant strides toward the technical enhancement and modernization of the Uttar Pradesh Police. “As part of this initiative, Kannauj Police has set a target to become fully digital by the end of 2024. The transition to a 100% e-office system will eliminate the need for bulky files, with all administrative tasks being conducted digitally.”
With this step, Kannauj will become the first district in Uttar Pradesh to have all its police stations and offices fully operational on the e-office platform, he added.
Recently, the SP launched this digital transformation initiative at a ceremony at the police office, where laptops were distributed to all station in-charges, jurisdictional officers, and gazetted officers to support the transition to a technology-driven system.
SP Amit Kumar Anand also stated that police personnel are undergoing training to ensure the effective implementation of the e-office system. “The training, held at the District Training Center, focuses on providing technical skills related to the e-office platform. Developed by the National Informatics Center (NIC), the e-office system is based on the Central Secretariat Manual (CSMeOP).”
He added that the district’s digital infrastructure has been strengthened to successfully implement the e-office system, and all police stations and offices are being provided with the necessary technical equipment.
The e-office system aims to bring transparency and efficiency to administration by digitizing files and data management. This system will accelerate the resolution of pending complaints, speed up reporting processes, and ensure timely delivery of justice to the public.
Additionally, the digital platform offers enhanced monitoring capabilities for officials, facilitating smoother decision-making and reducing the risk of corruption in police stations and district offices.
The public will benefit from faster and more transparent services, as there will be no delays in resolving complaints, and the reporting process will become more efficient and timely.
Kannauj’s digital transformation marks a significant milestone and sets an example for other districts in Uttar Pradesh to follow, promising faster, more transparent, and more efficient police services for the people.
