Farmers earning ₹1 lakh per bigha should be recognised: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that, similar to the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative, the goal of ‘Lakhpati Beeggha’ should be set, honouring farmers earning one lakh rupees from one beeggha of land. Arrangements must ensure farmers are protected from middlemen and receive direct market benefits for their produce. Intensive village-level activities will promote horticultural crops and modern techniques for better yields. Nurseries in every division should be developed as model units. A three-year action plan for nutrient management will be prepared, along with a plan to use advanced technology to ensure farmers’ easy access to fertilisers. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav issued these directives during a review meeting of the Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Department on Friday. Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Shri Adal Singh Kansana, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister of State (Independent Charge) Shri Lakhan Patel, former minister Shri Gopal Bhargava, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain and other officials attended the review.

The meeting presented two years of departmental achievements and innovations, along with a three-year action plan.

Key information shared included:

  • The state ranks first nationally in pulses, oilseeds, and maize production, and second in food grains, cereals, and wheat.   • PM Crop Insurance claims paid: ₹961.68 crore to 1.77 crore insured farmers in 2023-24, and ₹1,275.86 crore to 1.79 crore in 2024-25.
  • CM Kisan Samman Nidhi aid: ₹4,687 crore in 2023-24, ₹4,849 crore in 2024-25, and ₹3,374 crore in 2025-26.
  • The e-Mandi scheme was implemented in all 259 mandis, earning the Scotch Gold Award.
  • MP Farm Gate App enables farmers to sell produce at home/khalian at their price, winning Scotch Silver Award.
  • Stubble management: 1,312 machines in 2023-24, 1,757 in 2024-25, 2,479 in 2025-26.
  • Drone pilot schools started in Bhopal and Indore for farm mechanisation.
  • e-Vikas portal fertiliser pilot in Vidisha, Shajapur, Jabalpur; statewide rollout planned.

Three-Year Action Plan Highlights

  • Weekly organic/natural haat bazaars in all 363 municipal bodies and nagar panchayats.
  • “More Crop Per Drop” drip irrigation targets: 25,000 ha in 2025-26, 1 lakh ha in 2026-27, 2 lakh ha in 2027-28.
  • Reduce stubble burning by 80% by 2027-28. Under stubble (narvai/parali) management, the target is to reduce stubble burning incidents by up to 80% by 2027-28.
  • Hi-tech upgrade all mandis in the next two years.
  • Expand the area under oilseeds and pulses for self-reliance.
  • Promote agri-research to bridge the lab-to-field gap.

The meeting also reviewed horticulture and food processing, covering hi-tech nurseries, micro-units, and capacity-building for farmers/entrepreneurs.
