Kusum Triumphs in Bastar Heritage Marathon with Grit and Determination

Raipur, March 2026: Daughters of Bastar have once again proven that with strong determination and dedication to a goal, no obstacle can stand in the way of success. In the recently आयोजित Bastar Heritage Marathon, Kusum showcased exceptional athletic ability and courage by securing first place in the 42-km full marathon.

Kusum completed the challenging distance in an impressive time of 3 hours, 18 minutes, and 43 seconds, establishing her dominance. Her achievement is the result of months of rigorous training and a long struggle to prove herself.

What makes her victory even more remarkable is that she had once nearly given up running due to a serious leg injury. Despite this setback, she refused to give up. Continuous encouragement and guidance helped her regain confidence and return to the field. Resuming practice in October–November, Kusum trained extensively at Dharampura and the engineering college grounds, putting in hours of hard work.

There was a time when even running 50 meters was difficult for her due to physical challenges, but her disciplined routine of waking up at 4 a.m. for training not only made her physically fit but also mentally strong.

Sharing her experience from the marathon, Kusum said that during the 42-km race, there came a point when her body began to give up and her legs were exhausted. However, her determination to reach the finish line kept her going.

Hailing from the small village of Madhota in Bastar block, Kusum’s success has brought immense joy to her entire village, where people are eagerly waiting to welcome her. She is now preparing with full dedication for upcoming police recruitment and national-level sports competitions.

Her achievement stands as an inspiration for the youth of the region, proving that even in difficult circumstances and with limited resources, success can be achieved through hard work and perseverance.
