All India Presiding Officers’ Conference (Aipoc) 85th Edition: Mizoram Speaker Participates

The 85th All India Presiding Officers’ Conference (AIPOC), which brings together committees from various legislatures across India (Parliament, State, and Union Territory legislatures), was held at the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Patna, Bihar. Representing Mizoram, the State Legislative Assembly Speaker, Pu Lalbiakzama, along with officials from the Mizoram Legislative Assembly Secretariat, attended the conference. This session will continue tomorrow, January 21, and span two days.

The conference was inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Pu Om Birla, who also unveiled the 8th Edition of the ‘Practice and Procedure of Parliament.’ Discussions focused on enhancing the legislative process to make it more efficient, transparent, and innovative through the adoption of advanced technology.

The theme of the conference was “75th Anniversary of the Constitution: Contribution of Parliament and State Legislative Bodies in Strengthening Constitutional Values.” Presiding officers from various legislatures emphasized the significance of the Constitution and deliberated on the efforts required to uphold and strengthen its principles.

The All India Presiding Officers’ Conference (AIPOC) was first held in Shimla in 1921. This is the third time the event is being hosted in Bihar. The conference serves as a platform for Parliament and State Legislative Assemblies to exchange views on protecting constitutional values and to discuss various approaches for enhancing legislative processes.
