Police Constables Nilesh Dayal and Sagar Gogavale Felicitated by Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai

Satara : In the 68th All India Police Duty Meet held in Ranchi, Jharkhand, the BDDS unit of the Satara Police Force achieved a remarkable feat as police dog Surya won a gold medal in the “Explosive Event” competition. This victory brought pride to the Maharashtra Police and the Satara District Police Force. In recognition of this achievement, Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai felicitated Surya along with his primary handler, Police Constable Nilesh Dayal, and secondary handler, Sagar Gogavale.

The felicitation ceremony took place at the Police Headquarters in the presence of District Collector Santosh Patil, Superintendent of Police Sameer Shaikh, Additional Superintendent of Police Vaishali Kadukar, and other police officials and personnel.

Speaking at the event, Minister Desai praised Surya for assisting in solving several crimes. He highlighted that the dog’s gold medal victory elevated the prestige of the Satara Police Force. Acknowledging the excellent training provided by the handlers, he assured that funds from the district annual plan would be allocated for better living arrangements for police dogs. Minister Desai also commended the leadership of SP Sameer Shaikh and urged the police force to continue their commendable work. He further assured that all necessary resources for the police force would be provided and announced a cash reward of ₹1 lakh for Surya.

During the 68th All India Police Duty Meet, Surya successfully identified 55 different articles, securing first place. Superintendent of Police Sameer Shaikh noted that this is the first time the Satara District Police Force has won such a prestigious gold medal, and it is the first for the Maharashtra Police since 2014.
