‘Pure Food, Attack on Adulteration’ Campaign: 16,000 Kg of Adulterated Gram Flour Seized – Millet & Rice Found Mixed with Chickpea Dal

Jaipur : Under the initiative of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and the guidance of Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, continuous action is being taken across the state against food adulteration. As part of the ‘Pure Food, Attack on Adulteration’ campaign, a major crackdown was carried out on Monday under the direction of Food Safety Commissioner H. Guite, resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of adulterated gram flour (besan).

Acting on a reliable tip-off, a team led by Additional Commissioner Pankaj Ojha, along with the Jaipur-II Medical & Health Officer, inspected the Healthy Foods factory located at Plot No. G-1, 68-A, RIICO Industrial Area, Bassi. During the inspection, it was discovered that millet (bajra) and broken rice (kinaki) were being mixed with chickpea dal to produce gram flour, which was then packaged and sold under the brand Chhoti Lal Lakda Motia Besan. Large quantities of this adulterated flour were being supplied across Rajasthan, particularly targeting the festive season market. Initial tests confirmed the presence of adulteration.

At the site, officials found over 16,000 kg of adulterated gram flour. The Food Safety Department team seized 538 sacks, each containing 30 kg of besan, ready for distribution. Samples were collected and sent for laboratory testing, and all the adulterated stock was sealed on the spot. Further action will be taken based on the lab test results.
