Naxalism in Bastar at its Final Stage; Talks Focus on Development and Tourism

Raipur : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Union Home Minister Amit Shah today at his residence in New Delhi to discuss the declining influence of Naxalism in Bastar, accelerated development efforts, and initiatives to boost tourism and economic activities in the region.

CM Sai informed Amit Shah that Naxalism is now in its final phase, with the government taking decisive steps for its complete eradication. Joint efforts by the State and Central governments have significantly weakened Naxal strongholds, and the focus is now on a final phase strategy to ensure lasting peace in Bastar. He highlighted the positive impact of the New Surrender & Rehabilitation Policy 2025, citing the recent surrender of 19 Naxalites, including 9 with bounties, in Bijapur district. These surrendered Naxalites are being provided financial aid and rehabilitation support to reintegrate them into society with dignity.

The meeting also emphasized accelerating infrastructure development in Bastar, including improvements in education, healthcare, roads, electricity, and water supply. CM Sai stated that the government is creating employment and skill development opportunities for the youth to integrate them into the mainstream economy.

Additionally, the discussion covered promoting Bastar’s rich cultural and natural heritage at both national and international levels, positioning the region as a hub for tourism, peace, and economic potential, rather than conflict.
