Naidu Vows to Rebuild Amaravati: “It’s the People’s Pride!”

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu kneeled at the spot where Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for Amaravati in Uddandarayanipalem village on the banks of the Krishna River in the former Guntur district on Thursday.

Naidu, who toured several parts of the area where his dream project Amaravati was supposed to rise, could not control his emotions upon arriving in Uddandarayanipalem by bus with officials in tow.

After walking inside the enclosure, he observed the huge mound of earth brought from various locations in Andhra Pradesh and beyond. He immediately kneeled before the mound, touching it with his head as a display of respect for the earth.

Naidu was visibly moved when he saw the model of Amaravati in tatters. He also found the yagnasala, where he had performed a yagnam the day before the foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Vijaya Dashmi day, October 22, 2015, in disarray.

“I want to rebuild Amaravati. It is for the people. It is their pride. They should not have to go to Hyderabad, Chennai, or Bangalore for any work. They can proudly say they have the great capital Amaravati,” Naidu said, speaking to media persons after his tour.
