Natural Farming Cannot Progress Without Cow Conservation — CM Devendra Fadnavis

Goshala Project Will Be a Guiding Model for Farmers — Deputy CM Eknath Shinde

Inauguration of ‘Govardhan Goshala Konkan’ Project

Sindhudurgnagari : Conservation of indigenous cows is essential for the prosperity of farmers, and natural farming cannot truly progress without cow conservation, stated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He was speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Govardhan Goshala Konkan’ project, built on a 70-acre plot at Karanje–Satamwadi in Kankavli taluka of Sindhudurg district.

The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, former Chief Minister and MP Narayan Rane, Minister for Fisheries and Ports Development and Guardian Minister Nitesh Rane, former ministers and MLAs Deepak Kesarkar and Ravindra Chavan, MLA Nilesh Rane, District Collector Anil Patil, Chairperson of Sindhudurg Shikshan Prasarak Mandal Neelam Rane, and other dignitaries including Ravindra Pathak and Pramod Jathar.

The Govardhan Goshala Konkan project is being implemented through the Late Tatu Sitaram Rane Trust and underscores the significant role of cows in the holistic development of villages. The project’s vision places cow conservation at the center of rural progress.

CM Fadnavis remarked that this Goshala stands out as one of the finest in the country. It holds the potential to generate a local economy and provide skill-based, business-oriented training for farmers. The facility is also set up to serve as a center for agricultural and animal husbandry tourism. Highlighting the cultural importance of cows, Fadnavis noted that a Goshala is not merely a shelter for cows—it is a social, economic, and ecological revolution. Projects like these are vital for rural development. Given Sindhudurg’s natural abundance, such initiatives will create employment, promote sustainable farming, and encourage a return to a natural lifestyle, he added.

Deputy CM Eknath Shinde described the initiative as a model project for cow conservation. He emphasized that it would serve as a guiding force for farmers. In a region like Konkan, rich in natural beauty and culture, this project assumes great importance. The primary aim is to enhance the prosperity of farmers. The foundation of a “white revolution” is being laid in Konkan, with local milk collection also planned at this center—expected to boost the dairy sector, Shinde noted.

In his introductory address, MP Narayan Rane elaborated on the various breeds of cows, their unique characteristics, and the benefits of products derived from natural elements like milk, dung, and urine. He said the project aims to increase farmers’ income, ensure quality education for children, nurture capable officers from the district, and promote overall prosperity. He urged youth to engage in agriculture-related businesses by taking up cow conservation.

Former Minister and MLA Ravindra Chavan extended his best wishes for the project. CM Fadnavis was felicitated with a shawl, coconut, and a symbolic cow statue (as a memento of the Goshala). MLA Nilesh Rane welcomed the guests, while Minister Nitesh Rane offered a vote of thanks. Several individuals who contributed to the establishment of the Govardhan Goshala were honored by the Chief Minister during the event.
