Governor Ramen Deka’s Inspirational Visit to Adopted Village Temri: A Model of Dialogue, Development, and Public Participation

Raipur : On the second day of his two-day visit to Bemetara district, Governor Ramen Deka visited Temri, the village he has adopted. The visit was marked by simplicity, deep public engagement, and a strong commitment to development. His presence in the village set an example of servant leadership focused on inclusive progress.

At the Primary Health Center in Temri, Governor Deka inaugurated the “One Tree in Mother’s Name” campaign by planting a Peepal tree. Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel also planted a Kadam sapling. This symbolic gesture beautifully conveyed the message of environmental conservation and maternal respect.

Following this, the Governor inspected the health center, reviewing the medicine stock and eye examination room. He inquired about the availability of medicines, patient numbers, and quality of care from the medical officer in charge.

Direct Interaction with Villagers

During a public dialogue program held at the Panchayat Bhavan, Governor Deka engaged directly with the villagers, including the Sarpanch and women from self-help groups. When the Sarpanch raised the issue of a severe drinking water shortage, the Governor promptly instructed officials to act and assured the community that the issue would be resolved.

“As I have adopted this village, its holistic development is my responsibility,” he stated. Stressing the importance of education, healthcare, and sanitation, he urged women to actively participate in cleanliness drives. Citing Assam as an example, where women dedicate a few hours every week to clean their villages, he called for a similar initiative in Temri.

Governor Deka also directed the installation of an open gym in the village to promote healthy lifestyles. In response, Minister Dayaldas Baghel not only ensured immediate action but also announced plans for another gym in the near future.

To boost local livelihoods, the Governor suggested that villagers explore goat rearing, organic farming, vegetable cultivation, and cooperative ventures. Dr. C.R. Prasanna, Secretary to the Governor and Head of the Cooperative Department, highlighted the benefits of joining cooperative societies.

Empowering Support and Gifts

At the conclusion of the program, the Governor distributed nutrition food baskets to three TB patients, school uniforms to primary students, and books and bags to newly enrolled high school students. He graciously accepted a handmade clay cup and a basket of fresh vegetables presented by Pramila Goswami, president of the Ekta Self-Help Group, and praised the group’s work.

Governor Ramen Deka’s visit laid a strong foundation for Temri’s overall development and showcased a model of responsive governance through public dialogue and participatory action. His sincere efforts are set to inspire the transformation of Temri into an ideal village.
