Parvan Major Irrigation Project: ₹36.97 Crore Compensation Approved for 1,090 Affected Houses in Jhalawar and Baran
Result of Water Resources Minister’s Sensitivity and Swift Action; Approval Secured from Finance Department
Jaipur : Under the Parvan Major Irrigation Project, a special grant of ₹36.97 crore has been approved for compensating 1,090 houses located in the submergence zone across 27 villages in Jhalawar and Baran districts. The decision follows the prompt intervention and sensitivity of Water Resources Minister Shri Suresh Singh Rawat, whose efforts ensured approval from the state’s Finance Department. The affected families will soon begin receiving the compensation.
Compensation Now Extended to Government Land Structures
Previously, compensation had been sanctioned for land and properties in 47 villages of Jhalawar and Baran districts that were either partially or fully affected by the project’s submergence zone. However, structures built on government lands—such as grazing land, village commons, and forest land—were excluded. This included 17 villages in Khanpur and Aklera tehsils of Jhalawar, and 10 villages in Chhipabarod tehsil of Baran. With the latest approval, compensation will now be extended to 1,090 houses built on these government lands as well.
Minister’s Direct Engagement Brought Breakthrough
During his visit to inspect the Parvan Dam on April 22 and 23, 2025, Minister Rawat met with affected families and listened to their concerns seriously. Subsequently, he directed department officials to prepare a proposal for special financial aid for properties built on government land. Thanks to his sensitivity and rapid response, the proposal received formal approval from the Finance Department, ensuring that these long-neglected families are now included in the compensation framework.
Boost to Project Execution
With this financial relief, the rehabilitation of affected families will be expedited, and the remaining construction work of the Parvan project will also gain momentum. The ambitious project is set to irrigate 2.0 lakh hectares across 571 villages and ensure drinking water supply to 1,402 villages, significantly enhancing water security in the region.
Minister Rawat emphasized, “This ambitious project is vital for Hadoti, and our aim is to ensure justice and fair compensation to all those affected in the submergence zone. The recent approval is a step toward speedy project completion with dignity for the displaced.”
