State GST Enforcement Actions Accelerate: ₹66 Crore Recovered, Crackdown on Tax Evaders

Jaipur : Under Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma’s “Zero Tolerance” policy, the State Commercial Tax Department’s enforcement wing has launched an aggressive campaign against tax evasion. Over the past three months, the department has recovered ₹66 crore, sending shockwaves among individuals and institutions involved in tax fraud.

Led by Chief Commissioner of Commercial Tax, Shri Kumar Pal Gautam, the enforcement branch utilized AI-powered tools and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology to conduct an intensive transport inspection campaign. As part of the operation, 24 vehicles transporting goods such as betel nuts, iron scrap, granite, and marble without proper documentation were seized. Fines worth ₹1 crore have already been collected from these cases, and another ₹4 crore in penalties is currently under process. Many vehicle and goods owners have yet to come forward to reclaim their property, prompting the department to prepare for auctioning the seized goods to recover dues.

The Chief Commissioner noted that multiple commercial establishments were surveyed based on digital evidence, resulting in the department gaining an additional ₹50 crore in revenue.

Major Action in Kota: ₹1,500 Crore Tax Evasion Unearthed, Two Arrested

Last month, a major enforcement operation in Kota revealed a massive ₹1,500 crore tax evasion case involving a pan masala manufacturing unit. Two individuals were arrested in the case, and their bail pleas were rejected by the District Sessions Court. Raw materials without proper documentation were seized from the factory and an undisclosed warehouse. An immediate deposit of ₹15 crore was made on unbilled illegal stock — the largest such recovery during a single enforcement action in Rajasthan to date.

The department has gathered substantial evidence pointing to tax liabilities exceeding ₹1,500 crore in this case. Investigation is progressing swiftly, and the department is preparing to issue formal tax demands and initiate the recovery process.

Chief Commissioner Shri Kumar Pal Gautam stated that these enforcement drives have significantly boosted the state’s revenue. He added that the department will further intensify its efforts and adopt stringent measures to combat tax evasion in the coming months.
