CM Dhami Calls for Global Promotion of Uttarakhand’s Traditional Jewellery at National Gold Appraisal Workshop

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated as the chief guest at the All India Swarnkar Sangh’s Gold Appraisal Workshop and National Executive Meeting held on Sunday at Sun N Park Hotel, Dehradun.

Addressing the gathering, CM Dhami urged all goldsmiths in Uttarakhand to take the state’s traditional jewellery to global platforms. He emphasized that the world is increasingly attracted to Indian art, culture, and design, and this is the right time to adapt traditional craftsmanship to global market demands, thus realizing the vision of “Local to Global.”

The Chief Minister assured that the government will consider forming a Swarnkar Board in the state to support the welfare and development of the goldsmith community. He said that any constructive proposals brought by the association aimed at skill development, preservation, and global promotion of traditional jewellery will receive full support from the state government.

Highlighting the role of Swarnkars in preserving India’s cultural heritage, he noted their historic contributions — from crafting temple architecture to minting currency in royal times. He added that this initiative could reconnect youth with their cultural roots.

CM Dhami praised PM Narendra Modi’s initiatives like “Vocal for Local,” “Make in India,” and “Startup India,” which are empowering artisans and enhancing the global recognition of indigenous crafts. He noted that India is moving toward becoming a global hub for jewellery manufacturing and design, with modern infrastructure like the Bharat Ratna Mega Common Facility Centre in Mumbai.

He also mentioned the state’s efforts in skill development, affordable loans for cottage industries, and effective implementation of employment and policy reforms — placing Uttarakhand among the top states in ease of doing business and employment generation.

CM Dhami concluded by reaffirming his government’s commitment to protecting Uttarakhand’s cultural and demographic values through strict laws and initiatives like “Operation Kalnemi.”
