CM Bhajanlal Sharma Directs Officials to Stay on High Alert Amid Continuous Rainfall

Jaipur : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma chaired a disaster relief management meeting on Wednesday, directing officials to remain on high alert as continuous rainfall continues across Rajasthan. He stressed that administrative machinery must act with utmost vigilance and sensitivity in flood-affected areas to prevent any loss of life.

Sharma instructed officers to expedite relief and rescue operations, closely monitor waterlogged areas, and ensure that disaster response teams maintain round-the-clock surveillance. He urged citizens to exercise extra caution during the rainy season and to immediately report any emergency to the state-level helplines 1070 and 112 or the district-level helpline 1077.

Appeal for Public Caution

The Chief Minister appealed to the public to remain alert against heavy rains, lightning strikes, and other natural hazards. He asked citizens to avoid crossing flooded roads, bridges, and rivers and to follow all administrative advisories.

“Your safety is our top priority. Please inform the control room immediately in case of any disaster so that relief operations can be expedited,” Sharma said.

He also pointed out that most dams, rivers, ponds, and reservoirs are now full due to the relentless rainfall. Officials were instructed to monitor water levels, identify flood-prone and low-lying areas, deploy personnel, and install warning signboards wherever necessary to prevent accidents.

Deployment of SDRF and Civil Defence Teams

Sharma ordered the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Civil Defence, and Home Guard units to remain on alert with sufficient resources. Public movement must be restricted in areas vulnerable to accidents, he said.

Temporary checkpoints should be set up at submerged river crossings and other dangerous locations to halt vehicular movement until it is safe.

Ensuring Essential Services

The Chief Minister said that the Disaster Management and Relief Department is running the state-level helplines 1070 and 112 and the district-level helpline 1077 24/7. Officials must take immediate action on complaints received at control rooms and ensure that relief reaches affected citizens without delay.

Sharma directed officials to relocate affected residents and livestock to safer locations, ensure the provision of clean drinking water, and maintain regular sanitation. Adequate supply of essential goods, including food and drinking water, must be maintained in flood-affected areas.

He instructed the Health Department to prevent seasonal diseases in waterlogged areas, ensure the availability of medicines, and monitor emergency medical assistance in hospitals.

Coordinated Efforts Among Departments

Sharma directed all departments connected with disaster relief to maintain full preparedness. Special focus must be given to the safety of children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

He instructed the Panchayati Raj Department to coordinate with other departments to ensure sufficient resources reach affected regions. The Public Health Engineering Department was asked to guarantee safe drinking water for citizens.

The CM also stressed repairing damaged roads, strengthening early flood warning systems, raising public awareness through media platforms, increasing the involvement of voluntary organisations, and prioritising the cleaning of drains and improving water drainage systems.

Senior officers from various departments briefed the Chief Minister on preparedness during the meeting. Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant and other top officials were also present.
