CM M.K. Stalin Inaugurates Tourism Infrastructure Projects Worth ₹18.12 Crore and New Administrative Building at Chennai & Egmore Government Museums
Chennai, Aug 25: Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M.K. Stalin, inaugurated five completed tourism development projects worth ₹18.12 crore and a newly constructed administrative building at Chennai and Egmore Government Museums, built at a cost of ₹6.84 crore.
The inauguration ceremony was held today at the Secretariat, where the Chief Minister emphasized the state government’s ongoing efforts to enhance Tamil Nadu’s tourism sector by upgrading key tourist destinations to international standards. The projects inaugurated aim to improve local employment opportunities and attract foreign exchange through increased tourist footfalls.
Tamil Nadu, known for its diverse tourist attractions including ancient temples, serene beaches, natural landscapes, and cultural heritage sites, continues to be a leading state in India’s tourism map. The state government is implementing a range of comprehensive projects to bolster tourism infrastructure across urban and rural areas.
Key Inaugurations:
- Cenotaph Park, Kundrathur Hill Shrine – Infrastructure and amenities developed at a cost of ₹1.50 crore in Chengalpattu District.
- Tourism Development at Yelagiri – Upgraded facilities, including a new boating zone and rest areas, developed at a cost of ₹2.98 crore in Tirupattur District.
- Poondi Reservoir Eco-Tourism Project – Infrastructure enhancements worth ₹3.58 crore to transform the reservoir area into a major tourist spot in Tiruvallur District.
- Muthukuda Coastal Tourism Development – Projects worth ₹3.06 crore including a viewing gallery, restrooms, and other visitor amenities in Pudukkottai District.
- Hotel Tamil Nadu, Madurai – New banquet hall, upgraded kitchen facilities, and other modern amenities constructed at a cost of ₹7 crore.
Additionally, the Chief Minister inaugurated a new administrative building at the Chennai and Egmore Government Museums, built over 10,532 sq. ft. at a cost of ₹6.84 crore. The building is designed to complement the heritage structures, providing office spaces, conference halls, and facilities for museum staff and visitors.
The event was attended by Hon’ble Minister for Tamil Development and Information Thiru. M.P. Saminathan, Minister for Tourism Thiru. R. Rajendran, Chief Secretary Thiru. N. Muruganandam, IAS, senior officials from the Department of Tourism, Culture, and Religious Endowments, and other dignitaries.
