Union Government Approves Setup of Akashvani Studio in Ujjain

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav received the formal approval letter for setting up an Akashvani (All India Radio) studio in Ujjain from Shri Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. The letter, issued by Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan, was presented to the Chief Minister during a meeting at Samatva Bhavan, the CM’s official residence, on Friday evening.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, expressing his gratitude to the Government of India, said that the Malwa region is rich in artistic and cultural traditions, and in today’s information age, broadcast media play a vital role alongside other communication platforms. Akashvani, with its established credibility, holds special importance. Along with Indore, Ujjain is a key centre in the Malwa region where such a studio setup was needed.

CM Dr. Yadav recalled that he had met Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan, on July 8 and had requested the establishment of an Akashvani centre and studio setup in Ujjain. Responding positively, the Government of India has now approved the proposal. Until the setup is complete, short-duration broadcasts will be made from Akashvani Indore six days a week.

Strengthening Outreach for Public Welfare Initiatives

CM Dr. Yadav emphasised that, given the upcoming Simhastha 2028, various arrangements are being made, and the approval of an Akashvani studio in Ujjain marks an important step in strengthening official media outreach. He added that a fully equipped radio station was essential for encouraging local artists of Ujjain and the Malwa region. Beyond promoting art and culture, the initiative will serve as a vital outreach medium for rural and tribal communities. It will help disseminate information about central and state government schemes and expand the community radio network. This will greatly aid in reaching public welfare messages to remote rural areas.

Under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prasar Bharati promptly approved CM Dr. Yadav’s proposal, recognising Ujjain as a major religious and spiritual tourism centre in Madhya Pradesh. Notably, Prasar Bharati has been expanding broadcast services across India using modern technology. Akashvani’s popular channels are now available with high-quality audio on smartphones, tablets, and personal computers.

Commissioner and Secretary of Public Relations Dr. Sudam Khade, was also present during Secretary Shri Sanjay Jaju’s meeting with the Chief Minister.
