Chief Minister Joins ‘Drugs-Free India’ Rally in Aizawl

Aizawl, Aug 2025:This morning, under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drugs-Free India Campaign), the Mizoram State and Aizawl District-level rally was held with the participation of over 600 students from various schools and colleges in Aizawl. Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma attended the event.

The rally was conducted along two routes—from Chanmari and from Sikulpuikawn—and converged at Lammual, where the main function took place. The Chief Minister led the group starting from Chanmari, marching alongside other participants until they reached Lammual.

In his address, the Chief Minister said that Mizoram lies close to what is known as the Golden Triangle, a major hub for drug trafficking, which is why drugs are frequently encountered in the state. However, he emphasized that drugs never bring any real benefit and urged people to reject them completely. He called on alcohol users to also give up their habits and asked the public to firmly oppose any form of drug use, recognizing it as a dangerous path to enslavement. He also encouraged those already trapped by addiction to courageously step away from it.

Health Minister Pi Lalrinpuii and Excise & Narcotics Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar also addressed the gathering.

Participants in the rally carried placards and shouted slogans. A competition was held for the best placard designs, with prizes awarded to the winners. Miss Vanlalnuntluangi, Miss Grand India, also attended and led the participants in taking the anti-drug pledge.

The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drugs-Free India Campaign) is currently being implemented in 372 districts across India, including all districts of Mizoram. Its primary aim is to educate people about the dangers of drug use and protect those who have not yet been affected. The Central Ministry has set a five-year plan for a nationwide campaign, with the Aizawl rally forming part of these ongoing activities.
