CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Meets Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya; Discusses Proposals to Strengthen Sports Infrastructure in Uttarakhand
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi today to discuss several important proposals aimed at the overall development of sports in the state, creation of high-level sports infrastructure, and providing world-class training and facilities to athletes. He also sought the support of the Central Government in this regard.
The Chief Minister expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand for the cooperation extended by the Centre in successfully organizing the 38th National Games. He said that this grand sporting event has given Uttarakhand a new identity, and through it, the state has taken a significant step toward establishing itself as a ‘Sports Hub.’
During the meeting, the Chief Minister requested approval for several proposals, including:
- Establishment of a high-level sports facility at Dinapani in Almora district
- Operationalization of the ice skating rink at Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun
- Upgradation of the Adventure Training Centre in New Tehri
- Introduction of indoor artificial rock climbing facilities at the Women’s Sports College in Champawat
- Construction of multipurpose sports halls in 95 development blocks across the state
The Chief Minister also informed that Uttarakhand has set up its first State Sports University, which will not only provide training to athletes but also offer academic courses related to sports. He urged the Central Government to provide necessary support and maximum possible financial assistance/grants to develop this university into a leading sports institution.
