Mann Government Steps Into the Field for Flood Relief; 8 Cabinet Ministers Lead Ground Operations, Special Girdawari Ordered

Chandigarh, Aug 2025 : To tackle the flood situation in Punjab, the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is working in full action mode. While many state governments remain confined to holding meetings during crises, the Mann government has acted immediately after assessing the ground reality. Not only has a relief fund of ₹2 crore been released, but 8 cabinet ministers have also been deployed on the ground — proving that this government is not limited to announcements but stands with the people in their time of distress. Meanwhile, special girdawari (crop damage assessment) orders have also been issued.

Over the past three years, flood-prevention infrastructure worth ₹276 crore has been built, and its impact is visible today. These measures are no longer confined to files; they are effectively ensuring people’s safety during this crisis. This shows that the Mann government has not limited disaster management to relief alone but prioritized prevention and preparedness as well.

In Tarn Taran and Ferozepur, Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal and Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar personally inspected the Dhussi embankment along the Sutlej River. They visited villages, listened to people’s problems, provided immediate relief, and reassured them that the government stands firmly with them. Similarly, Hardeep Singh Mundian reached Sultanpur Lodhi, while Dr. Balbir Singh held a meeting with the Kapurthala administration to review relief efforts.

The Mann government’s approach is not only administrative but deeply humanitarian. When heavy rains caused floods, the government was right there with the people. This is not a government that distributes relief only in front of cameras, but one that works on the ground, often away from the spotlight. That is what sets it apart from other governments. While the opposition remains busy making statements, the Mann government has shown that public service is proven by work, not words.

Today, the people of Punjab themselves say: a true government is one that stands at the forefront in times of crisis. What the Mann government has done for flood victims is not just relief, but the building of a new foundation of trust. This is not political leadership, but an example of humane leadership. At a time when many governments are distancing themselves from the public, the Mann government has once again strengthened its place in the hearts of the people. That is why Punjabis today proudly say — having such a government is a matter of pride.
