₹1,339 Crore Fund Allocated for Crop Losses Due to Heavy Rain and Floods from June to August – Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar

Mumbai, Sept 2025 : The state government has approved the allocation of ₹1,339.49 crore to provide assistance to farmers for crop losses caused by heavy rainfall and floods in various districts of the state during the period from June to August 2025. This information was shared by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, noting that the decision has been issued by the Department of Relief and Rehabilitation.

In cases of damage to crops caused by natural disasters such as heavy rain, floods, and cyclones, farmers are provided assistance in the form of grants from the State Disaster Response Fund to help them recover for the next cropping season. In addition to the 12 natural disasters recognized by the central government, the state government has a policy to provide aid to citizens affected by local disasters such as unseasonal rainfall, heavy rain, lightning, storm surges, and accidental fires. By a government decision dated June 22, 2023, continuous rainfall has been declared a natural disaster.

As per the government decision of the Revenue Department dated March 27, 2023, criteria and rates for the State Disaster Response Fund were defined. Following these criteria and rates, the Divisional Commissioners submitted proposals to the state government for financial assistance for crop losses. Accordingly, ₹1,339 crore has been approved, with ₹565 crore allocated for the Amravati division, ₹721 crore for the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division, and the remaining funds distributed to other divisions. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar stated that the aid will be directly transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the DBT portal.

Mr. Pawar also added that farmers who suffered crop losses due to heavy rainfall in the current month will receive immediate assistance once their crop damage assessments (panchanamas) are completed.
