We have made a provision of Rs 28.40 crore for laboratories in 284 government inter colleges: CM Yogi

Lucknow : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Thursday, said that every investment generates new employment and also promotes development. Funds have been arranged for education, sports and other works in the state.

During the discussion of the Supplementary Budget in the State Assembly, CM Yogi detailed several initiatives. He said, “The state government has introduced a special proposal through the Rozgar Mission Committee, allocating funds for various operations. Notably, Rs 200 crore has been earmarked for youth training in skill development, and Rs 100 crore for Project Praveen along with employment training.”

He also informed about a collaboration with Tata Consultancy to develop 150 ITIs into world-class skill development centers. These centers will offer 23 new-age courses designed to meet the current demands of the global market and industry.

Furthering the focus on education, Rs 28.40 crore has been allocated for laboratories in 284 government inter-colleges, and Rs 66 crore for setting up communication technology labs in 1,040 government secondary schools. He mentioned that a policy has been introduced for anyone wanting to establish a university in the private sector. Upon meeting the standards, the establishment of new universities has been promoted. So far, 14 such new universities have been established in the state.

He said that the government has identified commissionerates without universities and established six new universities in these areas. These include a university named after Maharaja Suheldev in Azamgarh, one named after Maharaja Mahendra Pratap Singh in Aligarh, and another named after Maa Shakambhari in Saharanpur, all of which are now operational.

“Looking ahead, four new universities are in the pipeline. A university named after Guru Jambheshwar will be built in Moradabad, with formalities already completed. In the Devipatan division, a university named after Maa Pateshwari is planned, and in the Mirzapur division, a university named after Maa Vindhyavasini is being established. Additionally, an agricultural university named after Mahatma Buddha is being set up in Kushinagar,” Yogi added.

CM Yogi further mentioned that the Jagadguru Rambhadracharya Divyang University in Chitrakoot, which began in 2001, had faced financial challenges and struggled to progress. The state government has now brought this university under the state university’s umbrella, ensuring its operation for both differently-abled and general students. It is now functioning as a state university.

“The government has also established a medical university in Lucknow, which affiliates all medical colleges in the state and is expanding its operations. Additionally, an AYUSH university has been established in Gorakhpur, which is now operational and expanding its work,” Yogi said.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that the state government will build a museum in Barabanki in honor of the great hockey player KD Singh Babu, who represented the Indian hockey team multiple times. Notably, there was a dispute over KD Singh Babu’s residence in Barabanki, and the court had ordered its auction. However, the state government decided to preserve the home and property of someone who contributed to the country. The government will provide funds to save his residence and turn it into a museum, allowing future generations to learn about his contributions to hockey.

He said that the first sports university in the state, named after hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, is being built in Meerut at a rapid pace. Additionally, the government has allocated Rs 100 crore in this Supplementary Budget for stadiums in rural areas, which will provide new encouragement for sports.

“Arrangements have been made for registered workers and destitute children associated with the BOC Board through Atal Residential Schools. There are Atal Residential Schools in 18 divisions. The government is also planning to establish model schools named Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Vidyalaya in 57 new districts, with funds already allocated for this purpose. In the first phase, these schools will be set up at the district level, followed by the assembly level in the second phase, and the development block and commissionerate levels in the third phase. This initiative aims to address concerns in the education sector,” he added.

CM Yogi emphasized that without education, society cannot advance towards self-reliance and prosperity. Additional funds have been allocated in the supplementary budget to further the remaining work on the Atal Residential Schools.
