Civil Aviation Ministry Launches 24/7 Review Amid IndiGo Flight Disruptions

New Delhi, Dec 2025 : The Ministry of Civil Aviation has launched an intensive, round-the-clock review of airport operations nationwide as disruptions in IndiGo’s services continue to create major inconveniences for passengers.

Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu said senior officials have been deployed to key airports to assess ground conditions and ensure that the concerns of stranded or delayed travelers are addressed promptly.

In a detailed post on X, the Minister stated that the Ministry and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have been monitoring operations at all airports in real-time since December 3, when IndiGo’s irregularities began affecting flight schedules across the country. He described the situation as “extraordinary circumstances” that require immediate and sustained intervention at the highest levels of the aviation establishment.

A high-level review meeting was held with senior officials from both the Ministry and the DGCA to conduct a comprehensive assessment of airport functioning, airline responsiveness, and passenger services. The aim was to ensure that delays, cancellations, and other operational challenges are managed efficiently.

During the meeting, officials were instructed to immediately visit airports across India. Their responsibilities include inspecting ground operations, interacting with passengers, verifying airline handling procedures, and identifying gaps in services, including communication delays, congestion management, and inadequate assistance at terminals. “Any shortcomings identified, including feedback from passengers, are to be addressed and rectified immediately,” Minister Naidu said.

The Ministry’s intensified response follows widespread complaints on social media, with passengers reporting long queues, slow check-in procedures, and confusion over rescheduled flights. IndiGo, the country’s largest airline by market share, has faced operational difficulties since the beginning of this week, disrupting services at major airports, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

While the Minister did not specify the reasons for the disruptions or a timeline for full restoration of operations, officials familiar with the matter said the immediate priority is to stabilise on-ground processes and ensure passengers receive timely updates, assistance, and alternative travel arrangements where needed.

The Civil Aviation Ministry plans to issue a detailed advisory after compiling observations from airport visits over the next 24 hours. The focus will remain on restoring smooth operations, enhancing passenger experience, and preventing further disruptions during this period of operational stress.
