Pakistan U19 Crush India by 191 Runs to Win Maiden U19 Asia Cup Title
Dubai, Dec 2025 : Sameer Minhas delivered a masterclass with the bat, scoring a blistering 172 off 113 balls to lead Pakistan to a crushing 191-run victory over India in the U19 Men’s Asia Cup final at the ICC Academy Ground on Sunday. The win not only handed Pakistan their first outright U19 Asia Cup title but also inflicted India’s heaviest defeat in terms of runs in Youth ODI history. Pakistan had previously shared the 2012 edition trophy with India after the final ended in a tie.
Sent into bat on a pitch conducive to strokeplay, Pakistan set about their task with clinical precision, posting a formidable 347/8 in 50 overs. Minhas, the standout batter of the tournament, dominated proceedings with 17 fours and nine sixes. He built crucial partnerships of 92 and 137 with Usman Khan (35) and Ahmed Hussain (56), effectively dismantling India’s bowling attack, which struggled to contain the onslaught apart from spinner Khilan Patel. Pakistan’s approach was aggressive yet calculated, ensuring that India faced an uphill challenge from the outset.
For India, the only consolation was that the final 10 overs saw Pakistan fall just three runs short of a 350-run mark.
Chasing the massive target, India began confidently, racing to 32 in the first two overs. However, their innings soon collapsed after captain Ayush Mhatre fell cheaply in the third over. Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s brisk 26 off 10 balls offered some resistance, but once he was dismissed, the Indian batting lineup struggled against Pakistan’s disciplined attack. Poor shot selection and mistimed strokes on short balls saw India reeling at 68/5 by the end of the power-play. Despite a valiant 36 from Deepesh Devendran, the remaining batters were unable to mount a fightback. Pakistan pacer Ali Raza exploited the conditions expertly, finishing with figures of 4-42, while Huzaifa Ahsan supported with 2-12, as India were bowled out for 156 in 26.2 overs.
The emphatic win underscored Pakistan’s dominance in the final and highlighted the emergence of Minhas as a future star in youth cricket. Pakistan’s blend of aggressive batting and disciplined bowling proved too much for an Indian side that had gone unbeaten until the final but faltered under pressure.
Brief scores:
Pakistan U19: 347/8 in 50 overs (Sameer Minhas 172, Ahmed Hussain 56; Deepesh Devendran 3-83, Khilan Patel 2-44)
India U19: 156 all out in 26.2 overs (Deepesh Devendran 36, Vaibhav Suryavanshi 26; Ali Raza 4-42, Huzaifa Ahsan 2-12)
Result: Pakistan U19 won by 191 runs.
