Farm Roads Boost Rural Economy – State Minister Ashish Jaiswal

Nagpur, Jan 2026 : Under the visionary leadership of Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, the state government has implemented the Chief Minister’s “Baliraja Farm Produce Roads Scheme” to support farmers, particularly in enhancing their economic progress in rural areas. This scheme ensures that farmers can transport their produce to markets on time. The availability of all-weather farm roads is a key driver of the rural economy. State Minister for Finance & Planning, Adv. Ashish Jaiswal, emphasized that the scheme must be implemented effectively across every rural area of the state, with local officials paying close attention to quality.

Minister Jaiswal was speaking at a state-level workshop held at the District Planning Bhavan to ensure the effective implementation of the “Chief Minister Baliraja Farm Produce Roads Scheme.” The event was attended by Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari, District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad Vinayak Mahamuni, and nodal officers from across the state.

Farm roads are a critical concern for farmers, who have worried about their condition for many years. These roads are not only essential for transport; timely delivery of farm produce directly affects farmers’ earnings. Minister Jaiswal highlighted that the scheme is crucial for accelerating agriculture and the economic well-being of farmers.

The Revenue Department is responsible for implementing the scheme from the most remote rural areas to the expanding metropolitan regions. Since the Baliraja Farm Produce Roads Scheme directly supports the bright future of farmers, the quality of construction must align with the geographical characteristics of each area. Local officials are instructed to carefully consider the soil conditions and ensure the structural strength of the roads. Where necessary, appropriate training should be provided, as directed by Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Vikas Kharge, who also guided officials through visual demonstrations.

Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari emphasized that farm roads serve as the vital link between agriculture and farmers. Officials must have a clear understanding of the scheme, avoid unnecessary correspondence, and focus on efficient implementation.

District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar provided a simple and clear explanation of the government order issued on December 14, 2025, regarding the scheme. The opening remarks were delivered by Zilla Parishad CEO Vinayak Mahamuni. Senior officials from various departments across the state attended the workshop.
