Assembly Speaker Pu Lalbiakzama Attends Inaugural Night of ‘Tlaizawng Paradise’ at Phuaibuang

Saitual, January 2026: The first night of Tlaizawng Paradise, a two-day event organised at Phuaibuang under the initiative of the Tourism Department, was attended by MLA Pu Lalbiakzama, Speaker of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly, as the chief guest. Tourism Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar also attended the programme and encouraged local residents and tourists to actively participate in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Speaker Pu Lalbiakzama said it was significant that Phuaibuang had been selected as the venue for Tlaizawng Paradise, a festival centred on flowers, alongside other well-known events such as the Anthurium and Hnahsin festivals. He noted that flowers occupy a very important place in Mizoram and are often celebrated in songs and poetry, making them a strong attraction for visitors. He stressed the need to continuously develop and promote such initiatives to draw more tourists to the state.

The Speaker further stated that, given the scenic beauty and pleasant climate of Phuaibuang and its surrounding areas, efforts should be made to expand Tlaizawng cultivation so that the area can attract a larger number of visitors. He urged stakeholders to work towards making the region more appealing to tourists. Emphasising the role of tourism in boosting the local economy, he said that communities must become tourism-friendly to create diverse livelihood opportunities and ensure overall development through visitor inflow.

Pu Lalbiakzama highlighted that in order to sustain tourism, adequate infrastructure is essential, including good accommodation facilities, availability of food, proper reception and guidance for tourists, and trained tour guides. He also stressed that local communities must remain clean, welcoming, disciplined and united to leave a positive impression on visitors. Referring to the first edition of Tlaizawng Paradise, the Speaker said there were many lessons to be learnt and called upon the local community to work together to make the event more organised and successful in the future.

Pu C. Lallianzama, President of the Phuaibuang Village Council, said that a large number of distinguished visitors had attended Tlaizawng Paradise. Although the peak blooming season of Tlaizawng flowers had already passed, he said the event successfully showcased Phuaibuang as an important centre for Tlaizawng cultivation and floral tourism.

The inaugural night of Tlaizawng Paradise featured exhibitions of locally produced handicrafts and traditional food items prepared by residents of Phuaibuang. Cultural performances were also held, with musicians and artists presenting musical programmes, adding vibrancy to the celebrations.
