Tourism Minister Meets Champhai Nature Conservancy to Discuss Hnahsin Kut Festival

Champhai, January 2026: At 8:30 AM today, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister of State for Tourism, met with officials from the Champhai Nature Conservancy (CNC) at the Circuit House, Champhai, to discuss preparations for the upcoming Hnahsin Kut festival. The meeting focused on planning, collaboration, and government support for the festival.

The Minister praised the CNC and its members for their efforts in organizing Hnahsin Kut and highlighted the festival’s potential to become one of Mizoram’s premier cultural events. He stated, “Hnahsin Kut has the capacity to be a major festival in Mizoram. With proper planning and execution, the government is committed to providing all possible support. The festival can serve as a platform to bring together communities, churches, and local groups to celebrate our culture in a vibrant and inclusive way.”

Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar emphasized that the festival will not only attract tourists to Champhai District but also showcase the heritage, traditions, and cultural richness of the local Mizo communities. He added that Champhai, known for its scenic beauty and cultural importance, is an ideal location to host such an event, which can help boost local tourism and community participation.

Dr. Sammy Laldinthara, President of Champhai Nature Conservancy, expressed appreciation for the government’s encouragement and support. He noted that the CNC has secured funding for festival organization and will continue to work closely with the Tourism Department to ensure a well-coordinated and impactful event. Dr. Sammy also emphasized that Hnahsin Kut is envisioned as a community-based, participatory festival rather than just an event, aiming to engage local residents and visitors meaningfully.

The meeting also discussed detailed planning for the festival, including logistics, scheduling, and resource allocation. Both the Tourism Department and CNC agreed to reconvene in February 2026 to finalize the execution plan and review progress, ensuring that the festival runs smoothly.

The meeting was attended by Pi R. Lalrodingi, Director of the Tourism Department, and Pu K. Lalruatsanga, Assistant Engineer, Tourism. The Director highlighted the importance of government facilitation, funding availability, and technical support to make Hnahsin Kut a landmark event for Champhai and Mizoram.

Overall, the meeting reinforced collaboration between the government and CNC, setting the stage for a successful and culturally enriching Hnahsin Kut festival.
